Default Must Dos for rebuilding your engine?

Hey guys I just pulled the b16 out of my crx. The pistons and rods and walls all looked to be in good condtion. I had a few questions on the rebuild.

How do i know if i can or cannot use stock bore forged pistons?

Where can I find wesico pistons or cp pistons for the best price?

what new parts do i need ? bearings? seals? pumps?

what do i all need checked at a machine shop?

what needs to be machined?

what are the tq specs on everything or should i have it assemblyed by a local shop?

thanks for all the help.

Where do I start.. Its good to build your own engine if you have the knowledge to do it and are careful.. If your going to do a full rebuild I would get the block and head jetwashed and get the head milled true and cylinders in the block honed.. I would rebuild you oil pump and check the specs on it to make sure its still good..

Youll need new bearings, rings, head gasket, valve seals, and other gaskets and seals..

I just finished doing a complete rebuild on my B16 motor so let me know if you have any other questions..

Also, since you have you B16 out and apart, Check the allen key fitting on the bottom of the oil pump and tell me if there is a crush washer on there..

you need to mic the more with a bore gauge then go from there

Where can I find wesico pistons or cp pistons for the best price?
look around search for a few places. i got mine from a local machine shop

what new parts do i need ? bearings? seals? pumps?
get a complete gasket kit, do atleast rod bearings.

what do i all need checked at a machine shop?
bores, clearances, cleanliness, vlave seats, head and block distortion

what needs to be machined?
depends on how far you are goin. valve seats, deck surfaces

what are the tq specs on everything or should i have it assemblyed by a local shop?

Assemble it yourself man, $300-400 wel saved dollars

Take pictures and make threads, I built my own forged D16, took it to a shop only for some crank work, honed it myself, checked all clearances 10 times. You really do learn so much, took me about 15 hours when I had all the parts and Im **** as ****, was reading over and over the manual and making tons of threads on here with pics

Pretty easy

Search for a thread by Boosted-Hybrid, might actually be on Boosted-Hybrid.com, he took pics and meticulous detail of a GSR build. Was no use to me but might be good for you

DIY always gets a big and the knowledge you gain is

ha! I used that same thread by boosted hybrid that and a few other threads and the Helms manual you should be all set.

I have all the part numbers of the OEM misc parts I needed to replace... Orings, dowel pins, washers, gaskets, etc... soon as I organize them I plan to make a thread.

Strange, On all the diagrams for the 2nd gen B16 they dont show a crush washer there.. But for all other b-series oil pumps they do..
