msd blaster hvc coil

I have a distributer with the MSD cap, so I need to use an external coil.. My dad has this coil sitting in our shop and I wasnt sure if it would work or not... anyone know?

yea, i saw that...
but I thought I had seen people use them by themselves...
just wondering if it would work.
