Default motor choice?

I have been kicking around different motor combinations for my 89' crx. I was wondering what is the better combo a d16z6 or a mini me motor. I know they will end up having the same head but the lower end is what i am wondering about since I am going to be boosting and I wondered which one yields better numbers or if any one has a better idea for me since I am trying to keep costs down. also reliability is a major factor

also are there any options for a lsd tranny? is there a magical one that will bolt up to either one of these combos? below is a pic of the car I paid the huge sum of 400 for. the paint and all is a little rough but there is no rust.

A built D is a cheap, yet effective route. Otherwise a stock LS or LS/VTEC would yield good results. The determining factor is really, what do you want to spend on it...

An Eagle/Vitara D series can be built for about $1000 and handles about 400whp. A stock LS or LS/VTEC is good for a safe 300whp in stock form...the choice is yours. Look around the forum and you'll find people running all of these options. Personally, i think that if you're looking for the cheapest, most effective setup, the Eagle/Vitara D series would be my choice...you already have the engine for it i would assume...
