Re: Most Whp from a d-series (Arturbo)
Iv seen a couple D series dynos in the 400's, real or not Im not sure...I see no reason why a sleeved D series couldn't make that kind of power though.
I am building 5thgencivc's D series right now, we'er hopping to get 300WHP with 1 bar our of this 57trim t3/t04.
His motor consists of the following:
D16z6 (stock sleeves)
block posts (post provided by Larry)
75.5mm 9:1 CP pistons
Eagle rods
ACL bearings
stock head and IM
all new seals and gaskets
St00pid will be tunning it next week (hopefully)!!!

Re: Most Whp from a d-series (Jockobo)
me, turbodcx, gitwidit, and ladysman... as well as a few others are aiming for numbers like that this year. i'm a lil behind since i have a stock head but turbodcx had made mid 300's already on 8:1 compression and i think that was on pump gas . I've heard of some people that have made in the mid 400 to 500 on d's before. I read in a magazine that Jason Whitfield did it a while back (1998 i think). I don't remember the #'s but it was like over 400 for sure

Re: Most Whp from a d-series (CivicRyda2k)
what do you need 450hp or? i think numbers are good but too many people think about #'s before anything else
Bisi is running 350hp around there and look at the numbers he laid down when he was running his D15....
and i know he was N/A but its the principal
just my 2 cents

Re: Most Whp from a d-series (CivicRyda2k)
Art,
I will be shooting for 450Whp in Febuary or March. I did make 343 Whp on PUMP gas back in the spring of this year.
I hope to just be able to run mid 11's on DR's and maybe high-High 10's on a good slick.but we will see.
It is all about being a D-Series Turbo Ninja!!

numbers aren't everything... yes. but it is something to talk about. it's not easy to do that much power outta a dseries... even if it wasn't very usable it would still be cool... kinda like performance rice . but nah i'd much rather a more useable powerband especially since my car is gonna see more street time than anything else.

Re: Most Whp from a d-series (CivicRyda2k)
Ok, let me ask this again but a little more clear. Who HAS hit 450-500whp? Not who wants to because I do to. Not in a D-series that is. Its just I never hear of anyone making over 450whp. I dont know exactly what jason whitefield had tho.
And please no magazine articles either. I wanted solid proof on a dyno sheet.

yah i understand that. not many people give d-series any love or "waste their time" on them so it's not gonna be that many people that have done it. it hasn't until recently that i've seen the average joe try to make good power out of a d-series... that's why i said some of us are aiming for it and actually doing stuff towards the goal... not just saying "some day i want to build a 400+ whp d16" hehehe. most the others i've heard of are all race cars or something.

Re: Most Whp from a d-series (TurbodCX)
Here are some JG dyno sheets. Don't know how accurate they are though. Look at the bottom 2 http://www.jgenginedynamics.com/dynotests4
And ya, if it wasn't for you InfamousRS I don't know where I would be Hopefully it will see the dyno next week...

Re: Most Whp from a d-series (evan2)
D-Series Turbo Ninja Clan owns u Evan!!!!
yah but back to the topic... i think u don't see many proved setups (aside from magazine articles etc) because until recently not many people bothered with d-series. i decided to do it because it's a lil cheaper for me than to do a b-swap. also for ~ the same $$ i have a reliable motor (interms of bottom end strength) rather than a stock b-series.

Re: Most Whp from a d-series (ladysman)
I think 500whp is possible, but you need a really nice head and manifold setup. Cam, Springs...all that jazz...
Pretty much, all the bases covered and BIG Boost...Prolly some nitrous too.
