Default More pcv questions

I'm considering routing my pcv to the atmosphere to avoid sucking oil into my intake manifold. This is a turbocharged B18B. I'm just curious if the motor absolutely NEEDS the vaccum from the intake manifold to evacuate the crankcase as designed. If this is the case, I'd rather install a baffled catch can inline between the manifold and valve. If the pcv is routed to the atmosphere, will this cause any harm to the motor itself? I've searched this topic and I find conflicting opinions about what this will do to the motor. Some say the motors are designed to pull the crankcase with vaccum, and not doing so will result ring/crankcase/blowby problems. Another member said they were running the pcv to the atmosphere for over a year with no problems. Is there anyone who can confirm any of this?
