Default Modifying Intercooler Intake.. feasible?

Does anyone know anything about the r1 Intercooler intakes and the other similar variety? What I'm wondering is what kind of core do they use? If it's decent couldn't you cut the flat end off, weld another endtank on and use it for a real intercooler? Stricktly a low boost cheapy for homemade setups like mine, but might be better than some of the other options since you get half your charge piping and only have to weld one side. Just something I was thinking about while browsing ebay. They have em for $125 figure another 50 for welding and the other part of the charge pipe and you might have a decent intercooler for $175 or so..

check out some other threads....one by berzeker, he has a cheap front mount that is effective. Also, there is a thread about a factory saab front mount for like 150 or something with plastic endtanks, but holds like 20 psi...

I kinda figured that would be the case. Just wasn't sure because I've never actually seen one and the pics aren't very revealing.

Thanks for the info.. I guess I'll look into that viggen cooler or make one from an Industrial AC evaporator core.
