Modified stock FPR
Since installing the Walbro 255HP pump, my base fuel pressure is now 60psi and does not go lower than that. I went ahead and drilled a hole in the stock regulator as shown here http://www.theoldone.com/articles/regulator/ and it has effectively dropped the pressure to 40psi. My tuner now says that by drilling a hole in the regulator, there is no way for it to compensate for boost now so it won't rise with boost applied to the backside of the diaphram. I will be getting it tuned with the Hondata S300 and 1000cc injectors on E85 this Thursday and just need to know if I should just plan to get an adjustable FPR or just get another stock OEM regulator and tune around the higher fuel pressure. Just worried at 60psi base pressure, it will start to hit around 75psi with 15psi boost pressure.
I've done the hole drilling trick in the past. It works, but it was kind of a band-aid before I got Hondata. You have S300 and 1000cc injectors. Don't cheap out now. At the very least, get a rail mounted AEM. I've owned 2 and they haven't failed me.
I don't like the drilled regulator deal, you have to cycle the key to prime the pump a couple times to get the car to start sometimes. Ditch the small exit OEM FPR and get a large exit OEM FPR. I've successfully cured the high fuel pressure at idle w/ Walbro 255HP on three cars by doing so, and taken stock FPR to well over 600 with zero complaints. As I recently stated in another thread I suspect the limit of the large exit OEM FPR to be in excess of 700.
PS - either you drilled a little too much and got the diaphragm on your FPR, or your tuner is the idiot some people are saying he is. Since you get a solid 40 psi at idle I doubt you nicked the diaphragm... check to see if pressure fluctuates with vacuum hose on/off the FPR, and make sure the FPR holds a vacuum and doesn't leak.

I just posted this in another thread where there was recent discussion of this, figured I'd copy/paste to this one too:
On that subject, had a few FPR issues with a DA9 I was tuning this morning... I figured it was the AEM FPR, which are the shittiest things I have touched followed shortly after by 95% of the other aftermarket FPRs available. Anyway, I digress.
I went to swap out the FPR for a 94 LS unit I had squirrelled away and took some pictures... the outlet is the same size as all the D-series, etc, and is how you distinguish between the two.

The car now fires immediately when cranking (AEM FPR likes to lose pressure *exactly* like a drilled/modified stock FPR) and isn't giving me /transitional/tip in hassles anymore.

the regulator in that pic is a crap B&M not AEM. i have problems 90% of the time with B&M. i never had any problems with AEM's fpr

Those are both stock regulators. The one is just a B&M which uses the bottom half of a stock regulator. Why are the openings different sizes? Which is from what car?

Although the exterior looks the same, they changed the design of the diaphragm and orifice. You can buy rebuild kits, even if you have the old style, and convert it.

I second that your tuner is stupid. The hole is just a bypass, the diaphragm still moves. Next, with the stock fpr the "base" fuel press you had, 60 psi, will only occur at idle/low fuel flowing through the injectors, you will Not have 75 psi fuel press with 15lbs of boost. Why? Because the diaphragm was completely open but couldn't bypass enough to drop the press, when your injectors spray more fuel, the amount of fuel bypassed drops until the fpr can control it again. In other words, you'd have a really abrupt change in fuel press with that stock regulator, from 60 down to stock + boost. Not a good situation. The drilled regualtor sucks *** too, since you've effectively reduced the capacity of your fuel system since even when the diaphragm is fully closed, the stupid thing is still bypassing fuel. So upgrade your ****.
I want to know more about this large exit oem regulator..I was just planning on running 2 oems, but now I don't know what to get.

Well I just ended up using another OEM regulator from a '90 Integra. It dropped the fuel pressure down to 55psi so it helped a little. With E85, 1000cc injectors and 400whp the injectors are at 70% duty cycle and the car runs great so far. Something just did not feel right about the drilling a hole in the OEM regulator. When I'm ready for more power, I'll just plan on investing in a good adjustable regulator. Thanks for the input so far. Here's the dyno graph. https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=2208159

So can not being a dick
... so it comes off of ONE year and ONE model???
I was hoping you would have a part number or year/model range that they came on... But the snide reply was much more helpful
<- forgot this forum is for trying to look cool not being helpful... sorry

Oh, I was talking about it before? Amazing what reading comprehension does for those with functional brains. Since you asked nicely:
Frankly, I can't tell you what exact years they come off of, most cars seem to be assembled out of parts bins. Both regulators in the picture were off of 94 LS... guess which one was factory correct? Possibly one, possibly neither. I haven't cared much to try and figure it out as they seem to be pretty common on B-series, which I have littered everywhere as do all of my friends. I haven't had to call one of my friends for one yet, take that as an indication of their abundance.
Some of you guys need to man up and do your own research (not you SpoolinG2); if you turn to forums for how-tos you're never going to learn anything and will be incapable of fixing cars/situations for which there are no how-to's. I threw a bone out, a good bit of practical wisdom and experience, and empirically stated that there are two FPR exit sizes and the big one doesn't suck. ******* excuse me if I have two jobs, kid, and school to attend to and ASSumed some of you could apply common sense to the problem. I'll stop treating people like they are stupid when they can learn to learn... it's a silly factory FPR, it bolts on with two bolts and has a hose clamped to it, newsflash!, it does not require a technical dissertation to master the concepts I covered before posting the pics.

I'm not looking for a how to I'm looking for information on a part that you mentioned... All I said is there's no need to get obnoxious i/o just answering a question...
Gee I missed where you said what car it came off of... I guess I don't deserve an answer... it would've taken you half the time to type "94 ls" i/o "reading comprehension I"m a self important *** etc etc"
I know how to work on cars JUST FINE... don't you worry about little ol me, I never asked for instructions or a how to... just a clearer idea of what models they came off of.
If people ask a question whether or not you think it's stupid or whether or not you even already answered it... why not just answer or DON'T? why does it always have to be some lame *** pissing contest in here with who can be the biggest asswipe?
I'll answer any question I can regardless of how many times it's been asked or how dumb the question is... I hate all this "search" and "reading comprehension" snide BS...

And I prompted you to go back and reread the thread as it was already covered, which is even easier than repeating myself. It's only a single page thread, dude, the information is not hard to find but you decided to fly off the handle and cop an attitude.

Why in the holy hell does everyone get so pissy with Joseph? You even gave a picture which is more than anyone even attempted to help in this fpr thread. I guess you don't pet their inner bunny. If you guys can't take a little sarcasm from someone that is trying to help then I guess just keep taking in wrong information from people that are nice to you.

My point is that being vague like you were in your post doesn't help noobs... and THAT is what the site is for... not for trying to look cool to other experienced people. I'm perfectly aware of how to determine the part number and find out cross compatability on my own... but not everyone on here is.
