Default mixing your own E85?

Ive heard alot about the inconsistencies in the e85 on the pump i know that VP and Sunoco make E85 that is pure and consistent. however it is expensive and hard to get. i heard a suggestion that i mix my own E85 using alcohol and adding 15% gasoline, has anyone tried this before or is it not what im looking for? thanks

It's not as simple as that. You have ton use a binding agent. Not sure what though

You could just get a tester and be sure you have a good blend or get a flex fuel sensor

You also have to apply for a permit. and jump through legal hoops if you want to "make" it yourself. Also your home insurance will not like any of this going on in your garage. I looked into this 2 years ago, and said screw it and just bought a tester.

No do not mix it with pump E85 its same concept.

You can get barrels of Ignite shipped for less than the VP fuel. You can also get E98 shipped. there are multiple places that ship it.

Ignite is 230 for E98 plus shipping. One barrel is 225 shipping and the more you order the less per barrel the shipping cost. Ignite 114 is 270 plus shipping. I also got a quote from another company for E98 shippd was 425. All 55 gallon drums

Call Ignite Fuel @ 317-407-8944

Also just search for E85 online you'll find a forum for it and has a list for all the dealers and they will all mainly ship

I used to run the same tune for stuff out of the pump that tested at 82 percent and 70 percent. Never had a problem. Fuel changes were extremely minimal on the tune.

Get an aem v2 with a flex fuel sensor and don't worry about the blends.
Its blends your maps as it detects e85 content.

yea all you need is a flex fuel sensor and a 93 map and an e85 map, run the wire from the sensor that outputs voltage based on ethanol percentage and the ecu will do the rest

yay for technology

I've run the same tune all year long, with ethanol content ranging from 88% the whole way down to 72% here in PA with no changes at the 600hp level on my personal stock engine K20. It richens up a hair, but whatever. Perhaps I don't tune to the ragged edge.

You would think they would have a consistent blend from the refinery and whatever they load on the tanker should be the same... it's more than likely that fresh e85 being pumped into a holding tank with older e85 (possibly even from a different supplier) that could cause the purity issues
