Default Midwest Engine Builder/Machine Shop

Just out of curiosity instead of me spending alot of time scouring the web to see where each top shop is located does anyone know if any happen to be in the Midwest area? Missouri...or drivable distance

I'm looking to either find the perfect shortblock fs or have one built this winter to exactly what i want. There are a ton of great shops out there, laskey, GE, jeff evans, inline pro and so on. From what Ive seen they are all pretty much on either coast....Just curious..it would be nice not having to spend $500 in shipping and have peace of mind that UPS wont tear it to shreds during transit "Personal Experience".

Thanks guys....appreciate the info..looking forward to getting on with my build and be boosted shortly after winter.

I know you said you don't want to ship, but when I shipped my block to Mike Laskey it cost me $86 via DHL. Mike does return shipping via FedEx. This was shipping from the coast of NC to southern CA. I forget what return shipping was but I'm thinking it was about $100 or so.

Check that. I just went back and looked and return shipping is included in the price of the build.

Engine is still running strong. I've probably put 8 to 10 K miles on it but I'm very happy with it. Mike is a really good guy. When I was looking to get a block built he chatted on the phone with me for well over an hour. He even told me what to look for (in terms of parts, process, techniques etc) if I used someone else. That really impressed me.

Good luck with whatever choice you make!
