Default Measuring clearance with Plastigauge

Building my spare block and was checking main clearances with plastigauge since i am using a new crank. tried black, brown, yellow, pink and green bearings and still i could not get clearances close to .0015". all very within .0010-.0012". What is wrong here. am i doing something incorrect?

what's the original color of the main bearings ? did you try to get the exact color based on the block journal and the new crank ?
try that first, then try one size up or down based on the chart....

if not , try them all for one journal...if that doesn't work you may need to get a new crank....

matching the letters of the block with the numbers off the crank, all turned up to be yellow. tried the yellow bearing with plastigauge and still the clearance was still on the tight side.

you mean too loose ? the smaller the number on plastigauge, means you're on the loose side...the larger the number, the tighter you are...
try the brown or green, see if that helps...

I had 4 green and 1 yellow, ,I used ACL set and all lined up perfectly...

When my block was machined they ground the crank to all standard sizes with ACL bearings, does this mean that in order to do that, the crank originally just happened to be "oversized" to be able to match all the journals with "standard" bearings?

you need to look at the coding from the crank and the block to see what color you need, if not, take out your old bearing, ,they're should be a small area of color the put on the side of the bearing...
colors are green, yellow, bronw, black, and pink I think....

but check the code to be sure...
you need to match the code on the block which is all letters, from A to F I believe, each of them represent the coding for each of the main journal..

then look at the crank and see, what the codes are, then mathc them up and reference it with your helms
