Maximum streetable power?
Hi,
in the last days there where a lot of threads about high hp turbo applicaions on FWD honda here around...
so i wondered about whats the maximum streetable whp level for a FWD honda (i.e. CRX Si) with street legal tires (in my case yokohama A539 with the size 215/40 R17)
at the moment i have 236 whp and i'am very happy with that... in the first two gears i have slight traction problemy especialy if it is a bit wet and i have some small problems in higher rpm ranges accelerating out of small corners.
but what say the 400whp, 450whp or 500whp people?! let me know some of your
experiences?
Greetings
Malte.

Re: Maximum streetable power? (mrx)
It depends on your FI setup... and the power band. some Fi cars have the setup made so the car will be driven normally in lower rpm.... but street tires and 400whp? full throttle?

dude... honest truth is... high HP is crazy on slicks and at the track... but my personal opinion is circa 300hp is pleny for street tires and daily driven. I'm sure the occasional 400hp rip around the hood is great and all for the ego but thats about it.

Re: Maximum streetable power? (Twin-cam)
Hello Malte. You know our setup and the power we have :-)
Roundabout 280hp with 205/45 R 16 (Pirelli)
If we are carefully with our right feet we got no problems with daily driving. But if we go full throttle we loose traction in first up to third gear under every road conditions. If the streests are a little little wet we also loose traction in the 4.
If streets are really wet we loose it also in the 5. and it is absolutely not possible to ride with boost.

Sure, it depends on the power band and the type and size of tires you have...
and i don't want an exact hp number... its clear that there is no answer like "with 399whp everything is fine and with 400whp you have no traction at all"
