For an equivalent size, the rule of thumb is 10% (told to me by a honeywell engineer who designs heat exchanger cores for powerplants). I am going to call him to ask for more info.

an air to water will be more efficient than an air to air. We are making the air to waters out of the extruded cores now, for NSXs. I will take a pic of the air/water core if you are interested.

we can di a custom core like that. Probably would make the most sense to take 2 smaller ones and flip vertically.

Very cool james

let me know how things work out!!! (im sure you will let everyone know) great job so far. As far as the hoses slipping off, are you sure youre hoses actually fell off? I havent really seen that happen, but its a good point so thanks for the heads up.

Here is the smaller core we use in the air to water ICs. putting 2 cores next to each other and using horizontal end tanks may work out pretty well for those willing to lose the bumper.

What would be the dimensions of this intercooler if you did do this? How much do you think the price would be around. Would you expect there to be a big pressure gain between this idea and the one that you have on sale now??

BTW -- I like how the extruded cores look

how would you get a top to bottom flow? You mean air comes in from top and exits at the bottom? I dun understand how you would get air up there...unless you ducted it, but that would add more bulk and seems stupid...

Anyone care to explain?

My confusion is that with a normal IC, the air coming in is really just the air that passes through the front of the car...there isn't much air coming down from the top..that's the issue here... So....help needed here!

THanks for any info...

And keep experimenting with those IC's, I love cooling power...

We can make the intercooler to whatever size works. Any requests?

here is the key, more rows equal more flow, more suface area, and less pressure drop, which equals more efficient boost....

here's my attempt at trying to make a vertical flow IC....

here is top to bottom IC from http://www.roadraceengineering.com/intercoolers.htm

so basically u cut the top end tank off and switch it the other way right?

dont u mean more "COLUMNS" instead of rows

you can have them weld it which ever way you want....

as for columns and rows...it's all the same to me

Full-Race is by far the best turbo kit money can buy. They have extensive knowledge about making awsome products, and have never ripped anyone off. Since this post about 2 years ago (hello there newb)...Full-Race has switched to PWR cores...which just kick even more ***.

I hate Trolls. Seems like they're poping up all over the forum.

U are the Troll my freind.

You bring this post back to life, only to start the **** throwing.

There is plenty of information around here that gives substantial evidence that PWR is probubly the best overall air-air core for us street/track guys.
