Default Max Boost on stock B16 bottom end

I just took my SI to get a custom turbo kit installed. I will be running the stock block at least for this year. I'm wondering what boost pressure can safely be run. I will have a hondata 3b. I would like answers assuming that it is tuned well. Thanks everyone

I would run 7 or 8 no more.

You will be fine with about 10psi Considering it's well tuned.

10-12psi on 93, but that is tuned very conservatively. The high compression of the b16a engine makes good power very easily, the engine just needs to be tuned right. I would stick to 8-10psi daily for safety sake. I make close to 300whp when i ran 10psi with stock internals tuned with a standalone. Keep your mixture between 11:1~11.5:1, and take out timing in boost. In a 94 hatch, running 14lbs on c16 race gas with slicks on that stock block i ran a 11.8, but blew the head gasket and fried a ring land in the process....ran to much timing, learned my lesson quickly.

I thought that you want to be at an air fuel ration of 12.4:1 Does it change when you boost or something? So on my autometer af gauge (I know they are shitty) I will want to be at the beginning of the orange area? I always thought a little rich is always the safe way to go!!

14.7 is stoich air/fuel meaning the best combusting mixture. Anything over that is extremely lean, anything under that is rich. 11.1~11.5:1 is running the engine extremely rich. This allows you to effectively cool down the combustion chambers under boost to prevent detonation.

I am running 12 psi in my b16 w/ great results. I have a conservative tune but still use race gas at the track only. Id rather be safe than sorry. I have fried one set of ring lands on #4 being stupid and don't want to do that again anytime soon. It's a bone stock block w/ a gsr head. 331 hp @ 215 ft/lb. best time to date is 11.848 @100.70. (obviously from my mph I was on the brakes trying not to break into the 11's during WIC) New times will be posted by this weekend if it doesn't rain.
