Manifold and turbo temps???
Wondering what the temps for turbo manifolds and turbos get up to.
Its a inline pro log manifold and a garret turbo on a B16a running 13lbs if that info helps. Sorry if its a dumb question but couldnt find any solid numbers anywhere.

Re: Manifold and turbo temps???
hard pulls manifolds can reach over 1,000F and start to glow. same for turbo's. I havent shot my infrared sensor at one, but thats the basic point at which steel/iron starts to glow, around 772-1099degrees
egt's can easily reach 1800F

Re: Manifold and turbo temps???
Well the reason i ask is because ive got a powdercoat setup and im wanting to high temp coat my manifold and possibly turbo. But the high temp powder says its good up to 1200 degrees.

It will look good for a while but most setups I have seen it usually comes off shortly after. Just from the extreme flucuations in temps. Going from 1200-1500 egt under full boost to 300-600 at idle is demanding on even powder coating

I believe there is a few different types of coating that you can do for your manifold that will withstand the heat range and even keep temperatures down a bit.
But a regular powder coating is highly discouraged to do on a manifold because it just wont endure the heat.
