lsv dowel pin question
ive been taking my sweet time on finishing up my build on this lsv setup. so yesterday i had some time to work on the motor and tried to fit the dowel pins on the block to the head. i have GE dowel pins btw, and i found that it fits to the ls block perfectly, but when i fit it to the b16a head, the holes ON THE HEAD are a little small. o yea and the dowel pins are fitted on the intake side since there was no fitting for the exhaust side to match on the head to the block. what did u guys use to make the hole bigger? i dont have a drill press so if i did the work myself at home, it wouldnt be accurate. is there any other way to do this? or should i just bring it back to the machine shop and have them handle it for me? i just want to finish this up now that im getting more anxious. thanks for any help in advance

so do u mean that it wont fit by just pushing them in? they need a little force? its free from any obstruction though i checked. the block and head was all done up by a machine shop so everything is freshly surfaced and lookin good. bump for some more help??

Are you installing them in the correct location? They dont go in the open holes in the block. They are supposed to go over the head studs on the exhaust side. Look at the holes where the head studs go in the block on the exhaust side and you will see what I'm talking about.
Also wouldn't hurt if you read the directions that came with the G.E. LS-V kit.

I use mine on the 2 outter hole and they fit in no problem, both head and block. The GE dowel pin are made so that no machining to the hole is require

Re: (Slammd Sol)
im not using a GE hg tho? im using a oem ls hg. it was late last night when i was playing around with the motor, and it seemed like the dowels wouldnt fit over the hg but ill check it again tonight and see what happens. so the only reason y people are drilling the stock hg is because they are using stock dowel pins?
