LSD question

Default LSD question

I have a 99 si tranny with a quaife lsd. i have a chance to get a 99 gsr tranny with only 10k miles at a good deal. all i need to know is can i switch the lsd to the gsr tranny? thanks

Actually, you can switch the LSD to the GSR tranny, no problem. However, you need to use the Si ring gear with the LSD. Take the GSR diff/ring gear and swap it into the Si tranny, and the Quaife/Si ring gear into the GSR tranny.

You will need to swap some diff bearings around as well. It works.

so if i took it to the local transmission shop they would know how to do it. what are the other things involved besides the ring gear

Just the ring gear and the bearings. The GSR diff has tappered bearings, and the Si diff has regular bearings.
