LS/Vtec Oil pressure??
Hey guys, i've been hearing recent stories that the oil pressure in ls/vtec setups is too high for a reliable engine. I tried searching for anyone having problems with it, and couldn't find anything on it. Let me know what you've heard, experienced and what not so I can see if this is myth, or fact.

they say ls/vtec arent reliable because of the stroke meaning the pistons are being pushed to the cylinder walls , unlike the gsr or b16 the pistons does not push that much to the cylinder walll, thats my example. and then people rev them out to 8k when ls are meant to rev to 7k get some better rod bolts or yet rods my 2 cents

I'd basically agree with this in the sense that people just bitch and moan about the R/S being "crappy". It's really not bad, and an ls/vtec can be just as "reliable" as any other turboed honda....period.
As for the stock oil pump, yes I have heard several engine builders/shops say that the LS just isn't up for the task. If you can, replace it out with at least a stock GSR or something. I've had have no such oil problems, but then again I only use a stock LS pump for a few months at 375whp@14.5psi. Now I have an Endyn oil pump (basically a GSR that's been reworked for flow), and I idle around 15psi, and WOT is somewhere around 60-70psi.....I feel completely confident that this one will hold up just fine.
If it matters: I also have two oil sandwich plates. One for the ls/vtec and an one for the oil cooler. I have a -8an line going to the head, a -3an line going to the turbo, -10 lines going to the oil cooler and back, and a -3an line to the pressure gauge.

only reason oil pressure may be higher (which it is...i noticed a *slight* increase over my b16a setup) is because of the lack of oil squirters. but no worries....it should be fine as long as your oil restrictor in the turbo line is the correct size.
