ls/vtec AND an oil cooler???
I am still waiting to hear back from Golen Eagle, but I thought I would ask here as well.
I am trying to figure out possible alternative routes to take for this oil cooler. I found out today that the Golden Eagle sandwich plate (that goes on the oil filter) only comes in one style. That style (which is currently on my block) has only two ports....one for the turbo oil feed line (-3AN) and a second port supplying the head with oil (-8AN).
It seems to be that Golden Eagle does not offer sandwich plates to allow for both ls/vtec conversions and oil coolers. I find this pretty foolish because that is basically telling ls/vtec people that there is no possible way to run oil coolers.
The problem: I need a third port on the sandwich plate which will supply the oil cooler. My new thought/idea is to use an adapter fitting from Earls. The adapter kind of looks like a Y....it has one line going in the adapter and two coming out. I think this would solve my problem but I am not sure if this would negatively affect the oil pressure going to the head. Any thoughts?
This adapter is listed under the "fuel distribution fittings" in the Earls catalog, but I see no reason why it couldn't be used for oil too.

You should ditch the GE sandwich plate and get one with big 1/2 NPT fittings to run 10 or 12 AN line to the cooler then feed the turbo and head off of that main line (either outbound or inbound). Alternatively, you could get the same plate with 1/2 NPT and drill/tap a couple more holes in it.

i have GE sandwich adaptor, then I have a relocation kit for my oil filter, so basicly just a blockoff plate that had two lines which run to my relocated oil filter and my oil cooler.

That works too, but it is much more plumbing than tapping into the lines going to/from the cooler or filter....*shrug*

Re: (Si Shane)
i need one just like that... except i need one doesnt have another oil boss on the back and one that flows all of time so i can remote mount an oil filter and have it run to an oil cooler.
im not too sure how i would go about doing that since i still need flow for the oil filter..,. or should i just buy that and put a filter on the back? or will i have clearance problems

if i have an oil cooler on my b18a block, my greddy sandwich plate would have allowed me to leave it. wether i would have or not is another question. i dont see the point in the oil cooler.

I was planning to use -10 lines for the cooler. You said I should feed the head/turbo off the main -10 line.....do you mean buy like two T fittings to supply the head and turbo?

Our kit was not designed to be used as a feed for an oil cooler. It was designed to work with the factory Honda oil cooler. If you want a remote mount oil cooler, then you need a plate that will supply the oil to the cooler and also have a port for the oil return into the motor, our sandwich plate was not designed for that. Sorry.

No need for sorries Vince...I don't mind. Your sandwich plate has worked perfectly fine for a year, so to that.
You wouldn't happen to know of someplace or of a part that can be bought like that do you (the one that feeds a remote mount cooler)? Basically I am just at a loss right now of how to proceed...and haven't had the opportunity to sit down and really search hard for anything.

Sorry, I do not know where you can get something like that. We are designing a new sandwich plate to allow a remote cooler to be added, but that won't be available for about 2 months.

I use a Mocal thermostat'd sandwich plate adapter.
Mocal - SP1FT ($79.99)
http://www.racerpartswholesale.com
If you need a spin-on adapter to feed a remote filter head, use Perma-cool 116 and 1211 or 1791 (depending on filter head placement). The remote filter head requires the use of a 3/4"x16 oil filter (Nissan, Toyota, Ford).

Both are available at Summit Racing (or Jegs, if you're a Jegs person) for reasonable prices.

(2) 1/2" NPT female....or you can get it with (2) 1/2" BSP female ports. Either way, you only get two ports.
I just stacked it on top of my GE adapter plate and ditched my stock oil-to-coolant cooler. That keeps the oil filter assy from being too tall and making the oil filter hard to change....unless you plan on using a larger 6" tall filter...then there might be a problem with clearance.

pictures are worth 1000 words
Seeing as I only need three ports, I could block off one on the new adapter. Then just use the GE for turbo feed and -8 head feed.....then use the new adapter and run -10 to the cooler. Wow, I love you (in that non-homo kind of way) haha, no but really you just took alot of worrying and stressing out off my mind.
You say you got that filter from the above address that you sent me correct?
http://www.racerpartswholesale.com Was your experience with them decent?

Re: ls/vtec AND an oil cooler??? (Dunc)
I buy stuff (mostly Aeroquip fittings) from RPW all the time. They're an hour from me, just east of downtown Indianapolis. Granted that I've never had to do any internet or interstate business with them, I don't see how anything could go wrong. They run things pretty systematically.
You can find the Mocal adapter plate if you look in the complete index in the table on the left at the top. It's under Mocal thermostats.
