ls sc61 peeps
Whats up guys i just installed my sc61 on my ls and i ran first gear up to about 6000rpm at about 50% throttle. I didnt even see but about 1 psi of boost, Is this turbo this laggy? or do i possibly have a leak somewhere? I know i wont see boost till later on but it takes some effort to wake this thing up. im gonna go run it today and see how it does with the wideband hooked up. Either way all i need to do is get a clutch that will hold the power and i will post up a dyno im shootin for 400whp like i said i didnt gun it cause i still have to tune it im on a basemap. but running the gear up thre slowly didnt spool this thing but about 1psi at 6000 rpm

Re: ls sc61 peeps (egvtec)
First check for leaks. Then wait until you are fully tuned. BoostedCivicSedan would see three lbs in first gear with his LS coming off a light without problems.

Re: ls sc61 peeps (0x64)
what's the a/r on your turbine side? if it's a .63, don't expect to it to spool in first gear...especially with only half throttle.
even with my turbo, t3to4e .63/.60 60trim...i don't even get boost in first gear unless i gun it and take it to 8k on my ls. even then i only get about 5psi right as it hits 8k rpm. if you're trying to see how laggy it is, with an LS tranny start from 3rd gear at a 10mph roll or so and gun it. if you've got a GSR/B16/ITR tranny gun it from 4th. this is isn't the most accurate way to tell...but this is how we do it on the dyno.

I'll beat that it will be a monster. I as well have the t3/t4 .63 ar and that thing threw me back in the seat. Imagining that u do have a much larger turbo...its gonna pull hard about 3rd gear and up

Re: (95GSRTT)
hey brad i just thought about it. this could be the problem it may be your intercooler why you are boosting a little late. your intercooler is so big. note sure but i here that it could make you spool a lil later. plus you were at half throttle as well just wait untill the tune you will be fine.

Those are nice numbers</TD></TR></TABLE>Thanks...Before my "rebuilt", it hit full boost around close to 5500 rpm in 3rd and about 5800 rpm in 4th due to the fact that my compression was around 8.8:1 which had some turbo lag @ low end. The SC61 I am using is (turbine) .63 A/R and (compressor) is .60 A/R. Trust me the "61" will definitely make more power and torque than a comparable Turbonetics.

Re: (NVturbo)
when i first put my sc61 on my ls, it was still automatic, and when i first drove the car it wasnt as quick as i thought it would be give the turbo at least a 100 miles and thats when it will be broken in. i get full boost at 4.8k, and now with my gsr tranny it feels like there is no lag.

boost is dependent on engine load, not throttle position, I can have 75% throttle and be @ 8000 rpm and still not boost

I hope ur joking, boost is dependent on load, no load = no boost

Re: (FredoSP)
you could have boost at 50% throttle as long as you have a high load (maybe going up hill) With my old small .42 t3 it would boost up at 25% throttle after like first gear if there is a load on it and the RPMs are high egnough to push the amount of air to spin the turbine to create boost

I hope you have a sense of humor. Honestly I dont really care what you have to say. Im sure you are right on it being based on engine load, but Im saying I have never been at 75% throttle and NOT boosted. Maybe the wasnt enough for you to catch on. Got it now?

Re: (95GSRTT)
Look at the numbers scribed on the outlet of the compressor cover and let me know. You could have the wrong SC61 for your application. There are 3 versions with different turbins wheels sized to the engine displacement.
