Default low oil pressure

Well have just finished my turbo install on my obd-1 b16 crx. before the turbo install i had installed a oil pressure gauge which usually read 50-75 psi on start up now i when i start my car it sits at around 25 psi on a cold start. i have not kept the car turned on because i dont want to waste my turbo and motor. What do you guys think this could be???? my own opinion is that i have -3 an running from block to a t- which has my oil pressure sender and, -4 an line running to my turbo could the problem be that i increase the size of the line and thus the pressure drops? well i hope you guys will have some input i am going to go to the parts store and buy -3an line in case that is the problem, but i would greatly appreciate your help

Thank you,
Roman

-4an line is fine. i run 4an line and my oil pressure still stays high. sounds like you have a blockage or a weak oil pump possibly. or a bad gauge. 25 psi is about what you want going to the turbo but not the engine on a cold start. oil pressure should be around 55-80 on cold starts in cool weather. my car idles 25-30 psi when oil is warm.

Same here 25 psi when warm and high when just started ..id check for oil leaks then if you really wanna get into it check the pickup screen in the pan..

i dont think the oil pump or pickup could have gone bad i just took off the oil pan had it tapped and that was it, that should not of caused either to go bad

I had the samething happen to me last week. I only had 15psi no matter what. So I took the oil pump apart and found so junk in the bypass. So of coarse I thru it away. The junk was holding the bypass open and not letting it build pressure. I put on another pump and I have great oil psi now.

could it be that it is measuring pressure to the turbo now and not the motor since it is tee'd off of the oil feed line?

is ur oil pressure guage eletric or mechcanical?

check ur grounds for eletric

i would try this first before others

my ground was bAD

so i read LOW Oilpressure
daily driving up to 3k showd 40psi
and at a stop, idle showd ZERO
cold start showed 40 too

When the oil pressure gauge and turbo are Tee'd together, the turbo will cause the oil pressure guage to have a faulty (lower) reading than it should, even though, you have more pressure than it says.

I found this out for positive recently as I had always suspected so, I re-routed mine this weekend and sure enough, the pressure was WAY higher at all points, cold start, idle, driving, all of them.

its not that the system isn't getting all that pressure, it is just the turbo actually "sucks" the oil into it and causes the oil press gauge to read lower than it actually is.

I'm thinking this is my problem too. Yesterday I was driving and noticed it 10-15psi at idle. Driving up to 2-3k it was 30-35psi. I didn't hear any knocking. I stopped at the local 7-11, shut it off, came out and started and it resumed the correct idle at around 30psi. Does anyone know what the factory set reading the oil pressure sensor comes on at. I'm just curious because I don't have mine hooked up.
