Re: Looking to go turbo
For $500 more, get this kit: http://www.go-autoworks-store.com/gostkit.html
You will also need an upgraded clutch, injectors and fuel pump. Get a chipped ecu and have a reputable tuner tune it.
editing my post to clarify that I would avoid the kit you posted at all costs.

Piecing a kit together with good used parts is WAAAAAY cheaper. I have built numerous turbo kits for things for less than 1k with baller parts. Your car sounds like its got to be pretty quick already, so maybe take your time and look on craigslist and ebay and get good parts at good prices and make your own.

internally, how many miles do you think this d15b has? how rough have you been on it? last time the timing belt was changed? valves adjusted? rings good?
if you plan on slowly turning this into a 200whp+ car, then you should definitely look into building a LOW COMPRESSION motor.
Heck, My buddy pieced together a turbo kit from using stock dsm(mitsubishi) parts, and got everything for under $1k. used the turbo, sidemount intercooler (smi), and also the injectors. everything worked great until his dad decided that the car was too loud and put an exhaust that was wayy too restrictive on and blew the motor.

Re: Looking to go turbo
yup. most likely will need a traction bar also. don't forget that it's a good idea to upgrade your brakes
when i put together my kit, everything was new minus bov and wastegate. I went with new parts b/c it was my first time going turbo and didn't want any problems buying used parts. Now 2 years later, i would have an issue buying used parts. I personally wouldn't recommend going used since you don't have friends that are into cars that can help. I'd go with the kit from go-autoworks b/c it'll save you some headache in the long run. i got my ic piping and downpipe from Greg and they come highly recommended by lots of people here on HT. Make sure you check out the Forced Induction section and catch up oon some reading

Re: Looking to go turbo
First link was an eBay kit. Don't even bother
And why does everyone immediately post go autoworks stuff? Nut riders....
And you'll need some sort of engine management.
And you won't make more than 200-225... d series rods are the size of pencils and break at or above 225 crank hp

There are 3 d16z6 in my town that make 270-300whp on a dynojet and run low 12s.

Can you explain that? A restrictive exhaust will drop HP because the system now flows less air but how does it just blow up the motor?

Re: Looking to go turbo
Check out this video. This is what happens when you add more hp to your car with a turbo or a supercharger and don't build up the lower engine to handle it. This was a roushe mustang that I am sure was not cheap. The kid wanted instant hp so he supercharged his car and didn't change the rods to handle it. The sad thing is this is a school that teaches people automotive technology and theory. The teachers even helped the kid with the project.
Bottom line don't be cheap. Build your engine to handle the horsepower. The internals are just as important if not more important than a turbo or supercharger. In the long run it will save you money and a motor.
I hope everything works out for you!

You gotta admit though, there just aren't that many companies that do a quality -component full setup at the price. Even Synapse, AFI, and Full-Race don't give the bang for the buck that people used to years ago. Face it. There's no money in helping the Honda community. Its as bad as the bugeye Subaru crowd. Their thinking is "to hell if its good, if its cheap, I'll get it!!"

Re: Looking to go turbo
Well the update is a guy at my work bro is letting me buy his b16a for 120 bucks says the head is tossed so I'm just going to Basically keep what I have for now no turbo and go to harbor freight and get a motor stand and build my first motor (b) series from ground up and swap since 85% of people say that's the way to go and even mob Mentality is right some times lol thank you guys for your post ! But will the same suggestions you tossed out go for the new b16 just future reference ?
