Default Locking Vtec with Turbo!!

I've seen it done with the some all motor guys and was wondering if anyone has any experience on a turbo setup. Could this have any low end advantages using a larger cam?(i.e. S2 P1 or P2) This could make tuning easier eliminating the normal vtec transition. Let me know what are some of your thoughts.

If it's a track only car then locker up.Otherwise there is a low end disadvantage using the big lobes only.

It will mainly be a track car. How about tuning? will it be easier to tune?

The only thing that might be nice about this is that you won't have a crazy transition once vtec hits on boost, usually results in massive amounts of spin if you just roll into it. But if it's a track car on slicks you will prolly be launching past 5000rpm so it does not really matter. Tunning it might be easier depending what you use. I tried to get a car to run semi decent idling with locked rockers on crome and it was a pain in the ***. Besides sounding cool really there is no reason to do that, people do give you weird looks when you honda is caming like a v8 on a big *** cam.

With crome as far as I remember it's hard to get big enough rpm resulotion just by using the low cam graph, so I really wouldn't advise you doing this.

Thanks. Any noticeable power gains from this?

possibly, never went on the dyno. But car pulled hard from 4500 all the way up to 9000. It takes whole 1.5 hours to do, not hard at all. If you got free time on your hands you can do it.

power gains lol, only power gains your might see are going to be down below your previous vtec engagement point. This sounds like a waste of time and driveability.

yea either way LMAs get worked no matter what if you are in vtec or not. But there is more wear on the vtec rocker arm and lobe.

Thanks for the replies. I wasn't sure if it was done before. I probably will try it out.
