Mine's in the stock GSR ish location, between the engine and the firewall in the downpipe. Since it's heated, it's distance from the motor doesn't make that big a difference. Since I'm worried about fouling out the 02, and it's so expensive, I've got a plug that I put in if I'm not going to be tuning the car for a week or so.

I've got the stock single wire 02 sensor parallel to the front of the oilpan in my downpipe to help it read more accurately since it's not heated...

... a couple more questions... where is the best place to mount the o2 sensor for accuracy?... where is the best place to mount it to keep the sensor from failing (since they are so hard to get a hold and are expensive)?... what about the angle of the sensor?... does it matter?... thanks for the input...

18-36 inches from your exhaust mani. Too close, and you'll burn up the sensor, too far, and it won't be hot enough to work without kicking on the heater element.

Put it straight into the exhaust flow, no angles, directly in the middle of the pipe.

I'd suggest about the axle area of the downpipe is the best. Not too close, not too far, and it's pretty easy to get to there, because of the clear area behind the engine.

The sensor will survive best as it reads best, because it'll stay in the exhaust flow and not harbor much soot.

On a horizontal run of pipe the sensor does not want to be perfectly vertical nor perfectly horizontal. Optimum is 10 degress to 80 degress down from vertical. That is on the top 1/2 of the pipe.

The NTK's have excellent heaters in them.

BigMoose

putting it in the stock location seems good. im having my dp made by someone on this board. they are putting 2 bungs in it for me for my o2 and wideband. still wondering what is an easy way to plug and unplug the hole when a wideband isnt used. maybe another old o2 that is broken or something. would a bolt suffice?

I welded my bung about 6 inches down from the turbine at a 45 degree angle. Most factory turbocharged cars have the O2 sensor in the same fashion, but more immediately after the turbine discharge.

... o2 bung should have plug... if not... either old o2 sensors or 18mm spark plugs should do the trick...

My FJO cam with a plug.

$50 for the setup, $700 for the plug.

The uego setup says to mount it 36 inches from the turbo, on my drag 3 downpipe(uninstalled, unwelded)36 inches is longer then the pipe and past the stock bung on the downpipe. Should I wait till I extend my downpipe and mount it farther down or am I too far down already?????
