Default Lightweight flywheels.

whats the verdict? some people say go no lighter than 12#, some say no lighter than 10 # and some say they idle, fine at 8# and the a/c kicking on doesnt make them stall. explain to me why some people have problems under 10#'s and others dont.

second question is, who make the lightest chromoly flywheel.

opinions differ because everyone has different parts/setups and hp/tq numbers.

I havent been around any of the 8lb flywheels on cars that i have tuned where the car would stall out. The only disadvantage of the light weight flywheel is that off the line with large slicks its hard to launch (car bogs down).

You have to relearn how to feather the clutch and gas to avoid stalling. It is anoying at times. I would go with the Type-R flywheel. My JR (fidanza) flyweel is a bit too light and I do stall at times.

I have a Fidanza on my 99ex D16 and I think it's either 7 or 8lbs. You have to watch it when you brake, can't let the revs drop to fast or from too high or it may stall out. But besides that, it makes 1st and 2nd gear especially really cool. It helps in 3rd a little and 4th maybe a bit, but nothing major.

I have the ACT prolite and every time I come to a stop, it'll stall out. But I'm happy with it so far.

If you send it back to them they will send you and updated one that has beveled gears. The origonal design has straight gears and won't let the starter ingage sometimes. Or you can bevel the gears yourself which is a pain.[
