Light smoke or steam coming out of engine!
When idling, light colored smoke or steam is coming out of my small filter from the engine. If I replace that little filter with the stock line, the same smoke releases from the bov. My car run's perfectly fine, but it has a slight idle like a wrx. HELP!
I'm running Drag kit, hondata, walbro255 fuel pump, aem fpr new plugs, new wires, new cap/rotor.

No, headgasket or bottom end probably has a problem. Could be a cracked ringland on a piston, or the headgasket could be shot... do a leakdown

I had the same problem and it turns out that the piston ring lands were cracked and broken on three of my pistons. I got the pistons out of the cylinders and **** started falling apart. This was with a tuned EMS and no detonation ever heard. The stock Honda pistons do not like boost at all.
My cost to replace....
CP pistons & rings $500
Eagle rods $340
New Honda headgasket $75
ARP headstuds $107
New oil, coolant, etc. $40
This is not even counting new bearings and the labor to get it done. I was very lucky that I did not drive the car that long once I noticed this otherwise I would have scarred my cylinder walls and at that point I would have needed to take the block out of the car and send it to a machine shop. That would be another couple hundred bucks in labor for taking it out and the machine shop cost.
Not to scare you or anything but do a search on this subject and you will see some scary **** that happens to these stock pistons.
Who said that turbocharging a Honda was cheap ????

All of my ringlands were cracked, but I didn't even know about it. I found that out after I cracked a sleeve and pulled the motor apart.

ringland or pistons is screwed. I've seen this happen on a couple cars around here, basicly stock pistons hate the boost.

Re: (RTW DC2)
Well, it's not coming out of the bov. It is coming straight out of the breather and I can feel motor oil is slightly around it. My idle got poor too...
Somebody told me that my motor is getting really worked. Going to blow? AHHH

It's the piece of metal that likes to break on your pistons.
There are two rings on the piston separated by a piece of metal. That metal between the two rings breaks under stress.
Do a compression test and get it fixed asap to minimize the damage.

Re: (PolySquared)
Any smoke coming out of your breather filter is a bad thing. I bet that if you spin the filter around you have oil that has accumulated on the bottom and it is possible that you have some sludge down near your injectors.
You will not see smoke coming out of the bov because you do not build boost at idle.

Re: (PolySquared)
any smoke is not good.. so don't beat the **** out of it, check compression first. could be headgakset, but could also be piston rings resulting in blow-by.
i don't run fitler on mine, especially if you happend to be collecting oil inside of fitler - that way it won't breathe out.. at this time i dont think it will matter

Re: (Jackson4Door)
Well, the mechanic says I need a new block and new pistons. Could it be possible my block was cracked? He also mentioned how my pistons broke inside.

the mechanic has no idea if the block is toast by not taking the head off and pistons out

I am putting my bet on piston also but he can't tell the block is toasted or not without taking off the head, unless you got a big hole on the block or something

Re: (MikeMAN)
Actually, he did mention how he took the whole head off. I'll be stopping by the shop the next thing in the morning. He quoted me 1500 for new block and pistons installed. Good deal?
He is supposely a good buddy of mine.

hmm, $1500 for a new block and pistons installed isnt bad at all if it includes the labor AND pistons + block.

Re: (MikeMAN)
Had the infamous white smoke coming out of the breather filter thing as well....
I ended up buying:
a used block for $850
head check, cleaning, valve stem replacement $130
Overhaul Kit + headgasket $100
So the price aint bad at all for $1500 esp for a "new" block and pistons. You could always spend a little extra, sleeve, forged internals, and do the work yourself to save money

its the ringlands , im going through the same **** .
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=844289
its your ringlands . if your cooland and oil havnent mixed its not your headgasket .
i was pretty pissed it happened to me considering i had tuned it 6 days before . oh well the buildup is beginning.
good luck with your setup . and that mechanic who said you need a new block , needs another profession . at the worst you need your cylinders machined . prolly just need a hone and new pistons
