Default Kinsler - BOSCH 044 Fuel Pump Setup

I've searched, and seen some pretty clean setups, namely, Art's. But I don't want to cut my stock fuel tank and install the Full Race style sump.

Anyone else out there in the same boat? The Kinsler/Bosch 044 pump will NOT fit in the stock location.

just run your stock pump to feed the bosch 044 or sense the bosch is a pull type cut a hole weld a bung and run lines to the pump

I don't think using the stock pump to feed the Bosch pump is a good idea. The stock pump will become a restriction as it will not flow as much as the Bosch pump will.

I had a 1/2" stainless tube welded on the stock fuel pump bracket and bent parallel to the bracket that the stock fuel pump sits on. On top of the fuel pump bracket, I had a steel -8an bung welded on. Then I just mounted the fuel pump and inline filter and made the necessary lines.

he might be talking about a surge tank setup. that wouldn't be a bad idea.

you dont have to mount the pump inside the tank. Just run a tube into the tank with mustang sock...

I made 650whp on E85 with this setup, which is the equivalent of around 800whp on gas.

Just mounted in between the oem filter and the fuel rail. Stock lines up to the filter.

there are lots of buicks running 10's with a setup like that, a modern muscle 40gph (basically a walbro) pump feeding a bosch 044. i ran mine in parallel, but there are lots of series setups. sooner or later the bosch will draw through the intank, its not as big of a restriction as everyone thinks.

Are you guys redoing any of the stock fuel pump wiring to larger gauge and also running relays to each (intank + inline)?

stock pump feeding the bosch is not a problem

Thanks for the responses. I'm starting to lean towards the Full Race sump setup....just gotta figure out how to run stock lines from the sump to the rail. I'd like to retain the stock lines...no need to run bigger lines to the rail.

Where is everyone getting their fittings for the 044? What type of washer/gasket did you use?

With an inline Bosch pump pulling the fuel through a Walbro + surge tank, the Walbro is literally running at 0 PSI.

If you check the flow rating, a Walbro 255 LPH is rated at 40 PSI... If you chase the flow curve of a Walbro down to 0 PSI, it flows well over 300 LPH and already indicates that is well enough for 750-800 WHP.

That's why inline pumps work, and it's not really a restriction as most people think. When we speak of huge -AN lines, guys like to go -8AN, -10AN, etc.. it's complete overkill when we all know that a single -6AN line can literally support over 1000WHP. I've already done 908 WHP on a single -6AN line on my Supra, and base on the fuel demands of a 2JZ motor, that's close to a 1000WHP on a Honda. If a -6AN line can support that much power, imagine a 5/16" diameter inlet/outlet of a Walbro pump just free flowing is really no restriction at all.

We have everything here as well as full install kits to put it between the filter and rail. You need a copper crush washer for the inlet side and the pump comes with one for the outlet side.
