Default Kicking around an idea.. why is this?

Me and my friend were throwing this around....

we dont have really much skill in fab work.. nor skill in knowing how and why this will/will not work..

basically

why hasnt a company come out with basically a plenem style turbo manifold with no separate runners..? basically a plenum with a collector on it.. of course there would be some design to it..

i can see that it might increase the volume of the chamber so it might slow down exhaust speed...

and it might be really heavy.. bc heavy plating would need to be used..

but other than that.. it seems like it could be a better idea... and it would elminate trying to make equal length designs...

Because of the direction of flow of the exhaust compared to the intake side. The exhaust would come out of the ports and swirl around everywhere, cool off, and lose a lot of velocity. With the tubular manifolds it follows a smooth path that changes the direction of exhaust with gradual bends that are similar to the ports so that it has as little exhaust turbulence as possible

Exaclty, no more exhaust pulse.

so basically the exhaust pulse is one of the main reasons?

now what if they made a flat more square version with a smaller overall volume and a smoother design.. just like piping but connected?

edit: NVM the exhaust valves will still open at different times creating pulse...

i wonder if there is any way around it...? it would be hell of a lot easier to do this if it worked than trying to make a tubular equal lentght

But tubular equal lengths aren't hard to make at all. Everyone makes DIY ram horns these days.

I wonder why your trying to re-invent the wheel. tubular and castings work great.
why change?

Because it's been tried in the past, and doesn't work.
