keeping power steering on forced induction?
hello, Im building a turbo h22 in my 2001 prelude. the engine is fully built, but it will probably be a street/track car. I bought a fluidamper harmonic balancer a while back when I started my build and it has the missing pulley for the powersteering. My question is, is it worth it to give up power steering if I have a turbo? or will this harmonic balancer actually help over the stock one because of the turbo at high boost?
i have a boost gsr hatch and i have no problems not having power steering. i love not having besides parking is a pain sometimes but i love to be able to feel the road more it just feels as if you are in control more
P/S is overrated, IMO. Im about to get rid of mine, in the interest of less weight. It just makes things much easier for you when ppl start to get deep into their builds, case in point: the Fluidampr pulley.

well i dont care much about weight or the power loss from it because I can just boost more I built the block pretty bulletproof to handle over 800 whp. but would it suck to actually have power steering on a monster like that? i dont know i just figure why loose an assist if you dont really need to and I could sell the dampr for at least 300 bucks, but if in my case that the build is too strong to even support power steering then someone let me know. As far as this balancer helping me more than the stock I dont know if it will, my entire rotating assembly is already balanced to +/- .5 gram. i dont know is it worth it?
For the prelude, you can easily keep power steering and keep the car comfortable. A fluidamper is not necessary for a street application at all, really. Especially if the goal is about 350-500whp or so. Those are for a race application.
Keep it stock, keep it simple. Keep power steering and enjoy. Most comments that are being made about no-power steering are for those that have a small chassis like a DC2,EJ1,EJ8.EM1, EG6, EK, etc.. BB6 preludes are best with power steering

If you plan on going to 700whp, powersteering is the least of your worries. That is not a realistic for the street regardless, so don't overthink this. Power numbers don't break power steering units. The fatique of the hardware is through use/abuse. not power.
Ive got a 97 accord coupe project car with a h22 swap, I removed my power steering so i can run a drive belt for my dry-sump setup. I am still very far from driving my car so i cant tell you how it will drive , i just know that comparing it to a civic or teg without p/s is not as close of a comparison because of the big weight difference. You could put your front end on a diet, remove AC, ABS, carbon hood ect... it might help a little. there is also this unit http://www.wiringlooms.com/EPAS.aspx which its ridiculously priced but looks really promising.
