Default Kaboom?

While having some fun, i noticed that the boost guage spiked at 15psi on a stock LS motor. I didnt think anything of it, except when I pushed the gas again, the car started to rumble and miss like crazy. All the guages read fine, except now the car will not make any power, nor boost. RING LANDS? There wasnt any smoke, so i dont think it was the head gasket or cylinder wall. The engine had 160,000 miles on it when i boosted it, and has survived 3 months of 8psi conditions(another 15,000 miles). Anyone else experienced this? Anybody have a sleeved block f/s?
*note to self*
clamp down wastegate vaccum lines to prevent overboost conditions

I have 40 miles to drive home yet, and hopefully it will start up and make it home. Once I am home, I will do a compression test. Shouldnt I have heard something though? I didnt hear or feel anything. actually the only thing I felt was the acceleration rush, thats what made double-glance at the boost guage

The engine had ALOT of miles, but was still strong, when I boosted. It lasted 4 months of LS/Vtec, and then another 4 months of straight LS turbo @ 10 psi. Im quite frankly surprised that it lasted this long. Bseries motors are pretty beefy

Do a comp check and do you have check valves or what? Could be map as that causes problems with no power and stumbling accelerations all over the place. Maybe your vac line blew off the map or a check valve busted? Just another thing to look at that doesn't take a long time to fix.

Hey I found it! It was the map sensor. My car has no interior, therefore no dash or insturment cluster(no CEL). That much boost blew through the check valves, and tripped the MAP sensor. I went to bed looking for an h23 for replacement, and woke up to a perfectly fine car. thanx for the help guys...

Well look on the brightside... you now have an excellent reason to upgrade/rebuild.

I like being RIGHT!!! I never determine an engine is totally F'd because I am cheap, works for me though because unless some kinda smoke other than black is pooring out of your exhaust, chances are you are not F'd.

15,000 miles in 3 months? Jeez, that's more than I drive in a year. Best of luck on the engine.

Remember when you crank up the car floor the gas pedal so it could be WOT and crank each time like 5-6 times as long as the numbers keep going up keep doing it.

What would this prove? Sounds like a good method of checking the tire balance The MAP was tripped because my $600 turbo kit didnt include a missing link, or engine management.

**I just had my wisdom teeth out, and Im on some serious drugs...excese the lame replys. Im really not as dumb as I sound in this post

Ya, the car idled fine, a little high, like 1300 rpm, but it stayed running. Did you just complete a swap or something? I wrestled with an LsVtec for 4 months trying to get it to stay running. I found out that it was ONE tooth off on timing. I corrected, and had immediate fire and grief for 4 months spent on TIMING. Whats the situation with your car B18EG6???

My car wont idle...it wont hold vacuum. The electrode on spark plug on cylinder 4 was chipped off so I think its detonation...I am returning home this weekend to do a leakdown test, Im just trying to see all the other peoples problems to help diagnose my own

edit:drag 3 kit on a gsr.... had the kit on for about 1000 miles, 6.5 psi stock bottom end (haha not for much longer) stock head, act clutch

the chiped plug would definately do it. you have any hp numbers? Im running 10 psi in my LS, and i would guess im running around 220 whp by the buttometer, and the fact that i have traction problems all the way throught 3rd gear. keep us posted on your problems, and hopefully solutions.

when I blew my car at over 120 mph I heard nothing I just let go of the gas and the car just cut off. After I stopped my car was hard to start then it ran like **** at idle. after two weeks I finally pulled the motor apart and saw that all my rings lands where destroyed. If this is your prob, dont worry man its a minor set back you learn from your misstakes. I just put mine back together and im ready to boost again

You heard me correctly. No more factory dash. I made a "frame" out of conduit that extends from drivers roll-cage front hoop to passenger side front hoop. I also made a center console that actually mimics the CRX-style console and connected it all together. Once the frame was finished, I wrapped in all in brushed aluminum. I used all Autometer black faced guages including oil psi, boost psi, fuel psi, water temp, tach, air/fuel, and exhaust temp. No need for speedo, I know how fast im going with the rpm. Plus, those digital police radar units that tell you how fast your going help out. What i forgot to do was add a CEL indicator light, which I plan on doing very soon. The light is like 50 cents at a Napa. So far, havent been pulled over, so I dont know if its road legal
I think I have everything you need, such as all lights, horn, and defrost(i bought a $20 electric heater from some mailorder magazine). Anybody know what else you would need in order to be legal in Michigan???
