kaas or quaife?
Never heard of a properly installed quaife breaking but I always hear about kaaz having to be rebuilt every now and then. Pay a couple hundred more for the quaife imho.
Phantom grip is a POS it is no stronger than the stock diff. I have had my Quaiffe in for a year and no problems. I launch at revlimiter everytime and pull consistant 1.7 60 foot times. Plus Quaiffe has a lifetime warantee on the diff even under race applications.

Why do so many people spread so many RUMORS? If you don't have first hand experience with both TYPES of LSD's you need to keep your silly *** opinions to yourself. I like Quaife because they are low maintenance but they don't perform as well when it comes to feedback, clamping force and quick engagment. I own a Quaife, a Mugen and a Honda OEM Viscous LSD. KAAZ is NOT the only clutch LSD maker and most people are purchasing the wrong KAAZ diff for their application since there are many different types of setups available.

If any vendors are reading this please email me and give me your best price on a Quaife LSD for 92 GSR with stock tranny.

I've heard nothing but good about the Phantom. There's very little (useful) info on the net about diffs for these cars, but the Phantom appears to be a locker type which would definitely be better than a clutch, or positrak type.
I've never heard a differential called an LSD until this import craze started. I just think it's funny how all these companies and people come up with new catch phrases and words to try to make an old idea sound new so they can bill it as the latest technology.
Anyway, if you want the best get a mini-spool
Just don't turn too hard - I was always breaking my poor Mustang's axles with mine and the 4:63's in the little 8 inch.

downpipe....I have had experience with both types. The ATBD(Helical and Viscous) are maintenance free but can not be tailored to fit your driving style or to fit the type driving being done. Since Quaife dropped their price it really is a good buy if you do not have a desire to rebuild a diff or if you will mainly be street and not much circuit or strip.
The Phantom grip isn't a true LSD so the the 1way, 1.5way, 2way doesn't apply to it. Most cluch LSD's can be ordered 1way, 1.5way or 2way.
I have been hearing the acronym LSD (limited slip differential) since the early '80's so LSD isn't an import inspired acronym.
Spool's are straight line action only. If you have a trailor queen that only needs to turn at the end of the 1/4 then nothing beats a GOOD spool.
greyzone.. I'm just fed up with the opinions that some people force onto others. Those opinions are usually clouded with lack of info or experience with one or more parts of a discussion. I am pro-CLUTCH lsd but I also tell both sides of the story since I know not everybody drives the same, has the same amount of parts loot or desire to turn wrenches.
