just a word of advice...................
NEVER buy a used timing belt tensioner.
I did this and my brand new JG pro series head is toast
The belt skipped 5 teeth and bam...
All the valves are bent and I have yet to find the damage to the new pistons.....
Just a little rant and and caution to future engine builders.

In fact, don't ever buy used parts period. You don't know how much life it has left. Buy new ones from me.
Note: Used engine component parts that is considered a wear item like timing belt, water pump, oil pump, oil seals. I wouldn't recommend anyone buy used cam seals.

The extra $40.00 would have saved your head =/ How much did you pay for a used tensioner?

I agree. Len can vouch for me and say everything on my new rebuild is new, with the exception of the sensors. I didnt have to but I even went as far as buying some new bolts in some areas of the car. Every hose, gasket, seal on my car is all OEM brand new. Even the spring tensionor is brand new on my car. It cost alot, but it'll be worth it.
Plus, len is the guy to go to for OEM honda-parts.

yup...replaced almost everything under my hood when it was rebuilt...especially the timing belt (despite the fact that it still had less than 10k miles on it)

I agree with you 100%! to USED parts. Everyone should buy new parts if possible and save yourself the headaches in the future.

Sometimes we just have to learn from experience.

I agree, it's always better to use new parts, but whoever built the engine should've noticed that the belt wasn't tight enough. Once the tensioner is locked down it won't move. If the belt slipped then it wasn't tightened right to begin with...

there are still retards out there that buy napa timing belts and re-use as much **** as possible
i have bought used cam gears and whatnot, but everything new for the other parts.
you sometimes just need to learn first person perspective to understand why people buy new parts because your cheap or used part is toast and cause damage to your motor

Re: just a word of advice................... (intekragsr)
i have a bunch of reused parts on my motor. no problem here. i guess it helps if the motor you start out with is under 20 k miles tho. its all about using your common sense, and giving yourself an honest assestment of what types of jobs you can handle on your own. if not prepare for a learning experience or more accurately a learning expense.

Re: just a word of advice................... (intekragsr)
i dont think it was the tensioner. since the head was milled so much, the timing belt turned out to be a little bit to long which caused it to jump.
sorry to hear about all the problems Kyle. let me know if theres anything we can do.

I don't think you can mill a head enough to make the belt too long. There's quite a bit of adjustment in the tensioner.
