yesterday , i converted to closed downpipe, took about 2.5 hrs.. but the results are pretty good.. I've gotten sick of the wastegate sound being the only noise people hear when i'm at full throttle.. now they'll hear the spooling turbo and BOV a bit more.. next on the list, quiet the exhaust a bit more.. Geezz, close downpipe sounds so much better, i can also hear the wheels break loose now, when before i thought it wasn't happening cuz of the darn wastegate noise... give it a THUMBs UP on the 2-do-list..

 

Are you saying you went closed DP or closed wastegate?? Sounds like your talking about the WG.

 

I'm sure he means a closed loop wastegate.

What's your turbo setup and at what psi? What wastegate do you run?

 

How much HP do you think you lost? What size DP and exhaust are you running?

I am contemplating ADDING an open wg, not changing one back hehe.

Did you ever try a lawn mower mufler on it to quiet it down? Or even routing the dump tube further under the car so the sound wasn't coming right from hte engine bay?

opps, i meant closed WG.. didn't really notice any power gains nor losses either.. but the sound is so much more pleasing.. i've been running aboug 7-9 psi on the streets on a t3t4b..

my DP goes from 2.5 at the turbo then merges into 3" under the oil pan and all the way out back.. not running any mufflers, just a resonator out back..
