Default Just installed Drag kit....

Did everyone have as much trouble as I did ? Piping was NOT a direct fit, had to cut and weld almost every pipe except the dump tube. Fittings are also NOT a direct fit, had to tap the oil pressure switch hole for the "T" fitting to fit properly. AND just when we were about to install the in-line fuel pump, we noticed that the fitting going into the in-line pump, would NOT fit the fuel line. Just wondering if everyone had this much fun or just me. It was an experience installing, but I thought it would have been a bit more "Bolt-on". So, as for 1st impressions, can't tell ! Have no in-line fuel pump hooked up ! But I should get that fixed today.... can't wait. Sorry for the long post, but I needed to vent a little bit after working on the car for about 12hrs.

BTW, thanks to Ben for hooking me up.

Does Drag really send out oil fittings with the wrong size/thread pattern with all of its kits or is it possible that you got the wrong piece? If so, why do they do this?

If they do send the wrong fitting out with all the kits, does anyone know of a fitting that can be used so that you would not have to tap the block? I REALLY do not want to try tapping a hole FOR AN OIL LINE where I can barely get arm up there in the first place, it just seems like asking for trouble.

If I knew it was a little more than bolt-on , I would gone with a Rev-Hard kit. I think they bolt up a little better than a Drag kit. Also, for the fittings, I have no idea why they send out those fittings. Most people replace them, but that just adds more to the cost of the kit. So...I had to replace most of my fittings, fan, oil return hose+fittings. But all in the name of BOOOOST !!!!! Can't wait to finish my install so I can have some fun......sweeeeeeeeet !

Yeah...I think maybe I got the wrong kit ! This always happen to me tho... I think it's just my luck, crap never seems to go my way. The oil fittings would fit BUT not a pefect fit, it's kinda like forcing it in a bit.

hey if you got the wrong parts gsr_dude. then so did i. i have the same problem. instead of tapping the hole i'm going to try something a little different this weekend. i'm going to use a -3 an fitting because the threadings appear to be the same. we'll see when i try it if it works.

I had my share of install blues also. My first problem was my oil inlet on my turbo. There was no fitting that fit it. I had to get it tapped and cleaned out for the 1/2 inch fitting to fit. After that I found out that my T fitting didn't fit right to the back of my block so I had to get an adapter for that to fit in. I have the occasional oil leak of course. Just keep your head up and you'll be up and running soon

You need a BPT to NPT adapter. The threads on the back of the block are 1/8" BSP. If you put and NPT thread in it you will mess it up. Do it right, or be preapred to do it over.

Yup....but you would think that after spending so much cash on a kit, they (DRAG) would at least give you fittings that work without any other modifications, hence the term bolt-on ? Did anyone else have the same problem with the in-line fuel pump i.e not the right fitting for the inlet ?

Just from reading all the problems with the Drag kits not being a DIRECT bolt-on operation, it seems that there is an overwhelming majority of GSR owners that have problems with these kits. Do you guys think that is true...how many sohc civic owners out there have the same type of problems? Already heard from one(Chris Turbo), any other sohc civic owners have these types of problems?

BTW, do Revhard kits fit better..I have never heard that before, anyone else care to back up that claim?

i agree there puffy.. my friend put in 2 greddy kits and they all fit perfectly.. everything aligned to factory specs, but then again you will not get nearly as much power as you would out of a drag kit..

If it makes you feel any better, I'm suffering the blues with my FMAX. Same story. The oil feed does have to be tapped though no matter what.
