Default Just got back from AEM...

Fris and I went to AEM's facilities in LA this weekend. AEM was holding a seminar on their EMS unit. In cas you didn't know, they have developed a plug and play stand alone. AEM is/has done the R&D behind the unit, assembly and manufacturing of the unit is done at AEM. The software itself is written by GEMS in the UK where they also are doing the changes in the software.

The trip overall was pretty cool. We arrived Friday nite and drove around the area around 1 am We drove around Compton and Longbeach and its not as bad as you think. We did see the ghetto bird in Longbeach tho. With this in mind we decided it was safer to stay closer to the airport .

Saturday the seminar started at AEM's facility. AEM's building is very nice. Steph Papadakis's trailer was out back along with a few other cars. The facililty is split up into a few parts within the same building. On one side there is the manufacuring of the intakes and all their billet items. On another side there is storage of their inventory. They also had a few trick cars there as well. An RSX which was modified pretty heavily and our test car the Civic Si w/ Vortech SC.

I met a few people for the first time. Kirk is in charge of the EMS project and Jason who is one of the head tech's for the project. John C. I had met in Denver was there and is a very cool guy, also tech. A few of our distributors were there as well. Also there was Apex from Tucson/Phoenix. A few rally guys showed up and supra guys as well. Total attendance was prolly around 70 people.

The session was divided into 2 parts. Part one consisted of education on the capaplities of the system and theory, which lasted about 2 hrs or so. The second session was at R&D Dyno. More info on the software now and a few runs on the dyno. The day ended around 4. Darren at R&D also had some trick items as well. I believe Roger Senco was there as well. I think he's an all motor guy and only Clyde would know him

As far as stand alones go. This unit is going to be killer compared to most others. The capabilities are almost endless. Forget piggybacks, save up for this EMS. I'll have my review of the system next week after its installed on the R. I still have lots of reading to do.

Who was at Toronto's and NJ's session? PM please. They are looking to make a DVD as well, but that's a few months away.
