Default Just getting Boosted

Hi guys,
Im starting to assemble my own turbo kit for my JDM b18c. This motor is 10.5:1cr and I have a HKS turbo (garret t3) and a large HKS front mount. This setup is going to go in my 94 civic EX and I would like to know what is will take to run 10psi reliably on a daily basis.

I appreciate any input you guys have.

More information on your setup would be helpful.

If you have a good engine management setup and a good tuner, then you should be all set.

Ok, here we go. I will be running a AEM fuel rail and regulator, venom injectors(havent deciede on a size yet) MSD, and a VAFC2. Also going with some adjustable cam gears. The only mods I was going to make to the motor itself were aftermarket head studs and a thicker head gasket. I have no idea on what brands for those two parts other than ARP for the studs. I have already beefed the tranny with an ACT clutch and a Quaife LSD.

Actually I choose a HP goal of 300. From what I calculated 10psi should put just over that at the crank, and about 280 at the wheels. To calculate it I used the following formula
HP=Airflow(CFM)X 60 / air fuel ratio X ISFC. I got it out of the book Honda/Acura engine performance.

You can reach that goal with the setup your talking about, however; I don't think I'd run around daily on that. I'd run daily around the 225whp mark and only run 300whp on really good gas when you want to race. 280 whp is pushing it on a stock block with only a vafc for tuning. Not knocking the vafc or anything just be careful. My buddy had the same basic setup and pushed it a little too much. Needless to say he's dropping in new pistons and rods.

i'd recommend getting a better engine management .. like hondata or aem for your setup. its a great investment and will make boosting more safe and enjoyable

That power should be achieveable for the amount of boost you want to run. As you will be lowering the 10.6:1 comp anyway you should be OK with VAFC @ 10psi, just make sure you take care of the timing as well. However to be on the safe side it'll be wise to setup with standalone from day 1 if you haven't got all the 'band-aid' devices already.

Thanks guys, I think I will run daily on about 6 or 7 psi daily, just to be safe. I have been looking into getting a Hondata, but last time I checked the closest person with a stage 4 was over 2 hours away from me. That was awhile ago so Ill check again. I know those stand alones are pricey, but I do kinda want one so....
