Just changed y oil and...
It poured out like water, I was running 0W20. I hadn't thought to change my weight when the turbo went in. I searched oil here and saw that everyone was running 10w30 and up, so I changed it today. I drove about 5 miles and drained the oil. Man that stuff poured out like water, it was crazy. It was hot as f*#k too. Thank god I've been driving the car easy and its only been 4 days.
I'm not putting oil that thick in my car, I don't think Hondas run like that. From 0W20 to 10W30 I think is good for this beautiful SoCal weather. I'll evaluate it in like a week, car runs way better now though.

german honda civic. its safe to run thicker viscosities in germany. honda owners in america are brainwashed to use only one viscosity, 5w-30.

You want to run a thicker oil with a turbo car because with a synthetic oil it can seep through the seals on the turbo if you run something that thin. I run 10w 30. I have been told to even run as high as 15w 50. It is not bad but it may affect spool up times.

Wow that's interesting that honda recommends that thick of oil overseas.. Pretty much all they recommend is 5w-30 and 10w-30 around here.. I may consider stepping up to a slightly thicker oil.. For most people here though w/ a turbo.. I really wouldn't even consider anything thinner than 10-30, such as 5-30, 5-20, etc. That stuff is definetly too thin IMO. Stick w/ at LEAST 10w-30 and up.

according to some, american honda designed your stock motor to use only a 5w-30 (now 5w-20) to insure maximum protection at a specific engine oil temperature.
increase engine temperatures will result in a decrease in an oils viscosity.
turbo = increased temps.
