Default jrsc vs vortech

i am debating on buying a supercharger for my b18c1 and was just wondering everybodies opinions, a buddie has the aftercooled vortech on his 00 si with a built motor, i really like the kit but its about $1000 more not including ecu and tunning as where the high boost jrsc is a complete kit including a tunned hondata.

one bad thing about the jrsc would be no cooling.

Don't waste your money on a Vortech, go turbo. Better powerband, cheaper, no belts.

JRSC > vortech > procharger

Dont believe what everything you read on the net. Go DRIVE a vortech powered gsr. I used to thikn the same thing until I drove one. It is a blast to drive. A lot of people that have the vortech kit say it is complete and you can run it right out of the box w/o any problems unlike the JRSC where you either need hondata or a bunch of piggybacks to run the kit.

I used to think the same way you did, TILL I ******* OWNED ONE.

The powerband with the vortech sucks harder than a porno. You get jack **** for low end, jack **** for mid range, and then it pulls like a N/A car on steroids on the top end. The vortech kit is a ******* rip off. It's like 4 grand for the intercooled one with a shitty air/water setup, you need to upgrade from the 4 rib kit if you want to run more than maybe 8 pounds of boost, and did I mention how overpriced it is.

Vortech = RIP OFF
Procharger = RIP OFF

Those kits do well on large displacement motors that can make 350, 400 ft-lbs of torque at 3000 RPM's without the help of a blower, and the blower gives them an extra kick on the top end. Plus on V8's turbo kits are mega bucks. With a honda where a turbo manifold is 400 bucks you have ZERO reason to even consider a vortech kit. You get none of the advantages of a JRSC, and none of the advantages of a Turbo, it's like the bastard step child of power adders. You don't get the instant throttle response and low end boost of a JRSC, you don't get the sickening mid range and top end pull of a turbocharger with easy adjustability. You get a shitty mid/low end, decent top end, and you still have to deal with belts.

ive driven my buddis 00si with a ctr engine and the vortech aftercooled kit, it pulls insanely, im not sure where you get off saying its not worth the money, his car pulled 357 at the wheels on 7psi of boost, i have never driven a car with the jrsc, thats why i started this thread, to get peoples opinions on the jrsc, not for people to bash one or the other, as far as turbos go my buddie is selling a brand new in the box full-race stage 2 turbo kit wich would make more power than either of the supercharger kits, but after hondata and tunning im looking at close to $5000 but i would make 340 at the wheels on the stock block and boosting a safe psi

Sounds like you had a bad experience. The low end is not like a jrsc but it is a lot better than stock. I think anyone who is undecded should go drive or take a ride in someone with a stock kit because your satisfaction depends on what kind of driver you are.

That's stupid commentary. Both units do the same thing and therefore require the same parts to run correctly. JRSC just has more parts available in case you want to make even more additional power. How can you say that you need hondata for JRSC? You don't need it for anything, but it sure is the best way to go. Besides, I'm sure there are guys with vortec that use hondata anyway.

An LHT intercooled JRSC is only $3000.

Are you sure it wasn't 357 @ 17 psi?

the car is insane, hard to belive but that kit on a base b16 pulls 277 so on a built ctr it can easily pull 357

Very hard to believe. I have seen a built B16 running 14 psi on the vortech and the best it could do was 300-310 whp. Thats twice the boost and still short 40-50 whp. It couldn't have been 7psi.

I'm not arguing to be a dick, I just don't want you to get your hopes to high.

I'm pretty ****** sure you either forgot to mention the 100 HP hit of juice, or you're at 8000+ feet of elevation with a huge SAE correction factor. That ****-ant G-trim head unit is smaller than a 57-trim TO4E compressor, and there's no way a TO4E 57 trim turbo is making 357 WHP at 7 psi. And ****, a turbo doesn't have the disadvantage of parasitic drag on the motor.

You're either getting lied to, or you're lying. Which one is it?

357 on 7psi is a load of ****. I would like to see some kind of proof on this one. If this could be done then none of us would be running turbos.

first of all its not a 99-00 civic si motor its a ctr, ballanced and blueprinted, ported/polished head with cams, 3 angle valve job, completely built head, pistons are balanced with lower compression since he had it dyno'd, secondly neither he or i is lying, it is very much possile to achive 357 when you have $30,000 dollars into the ****** car not including the cost of a 00 civic si, secondly i will be talking to him this weekend and i will try to get the dyno sheets from him to scan in and prove you all wrong, If a full race stage 2 can put out around 340 tunned on a stock gsr block at about 7-9 psi, why cant a vortech put out 357 on a built ctr, got an answer to that? i have better things to do than post a bunch of bullshit about something that is not real, get a ****** life. I hate when people come in and try to ruin others threads. all i wanted was a simple answer till u ***** decided to ruin my thread

Why can't it put out 357 at 7 psi?

A) It's a shitty power adder
B) It's a small compressor
C) A dyno doesn't mean **** unless you actually hooked up a boost probe, and unless the weather conditions are posted.

PS, here's my dyno sheet. This is a B16 with an LS head on it and an LS automatic tranny. I'm running an FMU, the hack, D15 injectors, a carbureator, and diesel fuel. THis was made with a Vorturd G-trim at 2.2 PSI. If you don't belive me, too bad, I got a dyno sheet!!!!

See the point I'm trying to make?

I don't care how much money you have into it, when you claim to make 30 WHP more than anyone else has made at 8 pounds less boost on the stock 4 rib system, pardon me for having some doubt.
