Default JRSC question?

Im pretty sure i want to supercharge my 97 lude sh when i get some cash. I was goin to turbo it but their not all that reliable and here in cali smog sucks. My question anyways is does a JRSC need a intercooler and Blowoff valve. Cause i like the look of an intercooler and the sound of a blowoff valve. But i havent seen cars that have both with the JRSC. Ive seen them with the vortech supercharger and a blitz supercharger. JRSC is the only one they make for lude sh huh.
Well any answers will be greatly appreciated.
Peace

Being in Cali severely limits your options if you wanna stay legal.

The JRSC does NOT use a blow off valve because the compressor is located after the throttle plate. Yes, it would most definitely benefit from an intercooler, but don't hold your breath on that one.

If any turbo set-up is unreliable, that is your fault. A turbo motor should be MORE reliable than a supercharger at the same boost. Also, if you want to SC or TC your car because you think it looks and sounds cool, please send me your license priority mail, so I can throw it in a wood chipper.

The only reason a turbo setup might be less reliable is because it gives folks the opportunity to really halfass stuff.

Cause i like the look of an intercooler and the sound of a blowoff valve.
I think you want forced induction for the wrong reasons -- You should want it because it makes your car go fast

Looks and sound are the wrong reasons to go FI. To answer your question, a lude JRSC needs an intercooler, but there is no practical way to include one. There is precious little room on the intake manifold for either nitrous or water injectors (as far as I know no one has attempted it for the JRSC lude because of the lack of space), and no one has come up with a custom air/water aftercooler for the blower as has been done for JRSCs for other cars. Blow off valves are for turbos. The JRSC kit does have what is called a bypass valve which allows for part-throttle off-boost operation, but it doesn't make the trick sound you seem to like so much.

Well, if you said, "Damn yo, come 'ere dawg. Won't this look tizite on my ride? Chicks dig shiny **** more than Magpies dawg. I'm gonna order it, where's mom's credit card?"

Then yes, please send my your license, and your sister while your at it.

OK that was the wrong question. Obviously i want more HP but the sound of a blowoff valve and intercooler are a plus. Get it? You have to agree there. Arent the problems easier to fix on a supercharger then turbo?

lord jebus no...

plus upgrading in the future is a pain in the bum with a sc... with a turbo there are many options.

careful showing off your intercooler/blowoff valve, especially here in california: you're just asking for theft.

as far as smog in cali, honestly if you want more power you're going to have to risk it...
to stay legal: stock exhaust/stock cat/carb approved supercharger/carb approved header.... yeah, thats not fun.
i say turbo the sucker... and find ways around the smog issue. and if you absolutely can't, make sure you keep the stock header/intake assebly/airbox/cat, just in case.

either way: keep reading the Forced Induction Archives..... there's a WHOLE lot of good information here.
Honda-Tech is great, you get a chance to learn from other peoples mistakes.

Neither turbo nor JRSC is a walk in the park. Research and plan before you purchase a single part.
