JRSC: 94 sunoco or 93 shell

Default JRSC: 94 sunoco or 93 shell

Is it really worth to get the extra 1 octane for my 9.5 PSI JRSC? Since the JRSC is more prone to get detonation maybe Im better off with 94. But the availability on 93 is ALOT better and where the 94 is harder to get and the gas could be older since no one gets it. I have a sunoco 2 minutes away from me with 94 BTW.

Either or really...I used to have a JRSC running 11psi, as long as your tuning is fine its not gonna make a difference. 1 octane point isnt a big difference.

If you're running some sort of knock sensor/timing unit, then the higher the octane, the more timing the unit will run. Without one though, the differences are negligible. The 94 may allow you to run another 1-2 deg advance, but that's it.

Im going to be using hondata. But I think i will just stick to 93.

Be sure to tune it on the lower grade of fuel, like 91 for example. When you're running an 93 or 94, you have a margin of safety.

Also, try to get your hands on an OBD1 P72, or P30, or even a J&S, since they have the ability to read the knock sensor. The J&S is the best choice, as it tunes the timing based on events in the chamber. That's some good stuff.

what Hypa said. tuning for a lower grade of gas prevents you from getting stuck in some hick town with only 91 octane.

Everywhere I go there is 93 so Im not woried. Also the knock sensor is only good to about 5000 rpm as said on hondatas website. Im running a P28.

it was mentioned above to get an ECU that read the knock sensor.....if i'm going to be running uberdata on a chipped P28, will my knock sensor not fuction? or will it work since it can be enabled in uberdata? in other words, is the knock sensor pin on the P28 hooked up to anything?
