Default the joys of a boosted daily driver...

So i drove to minneapolis from denver where i go to schooo, everything went great, been boosted for 3 months now, it was perfect. I get here, the air is thick, i'm making what seems like a lot more power here, so i go to drive my cousin around and show him my car.

I make a hard launch, spin thru 1st and 2nd. never really happened before but i wasnt racing so i was like oh well. shift to 3rd, and the revs jump up, wheels arent spinning. crap, then i smell the clutch.

So it still grabs, but it catches high on the pedal. The clutch was getting old, and i knew it would go eventually with boost, but not like that.
but i can drive it, it slips under hard launches but not if i just floor it in gear.

I have to make the 950 mile trip home next week, will it last me till then if i drive like a granny? I sure hope so, or i'm up the river without a paddle.

insight or experiences on this? how much longer will it last?

Seems like your car will make it if you just keep your rpms low. shift for every gear at 3000rpm.....your clutch will hold at cruising up to redline if you feather your gas pedal and clutch...

And my cars seems to run stronger but it's running leaner....

MN cold weather sucks for us boosted guys...

In first gear my tires always breaks free because of the damn snow...gotta feather drive to stop wheeling....

yeah i think part of the reason i spun out so easy is that the roads are really cold and hard, not really icy but probably a bit glazed. but yeah, it prolly is running leaner, but with my rich untuned uberdata basemap i think i'm fine..

i am just glad i didnt blow my engine.

but yeah its a pain when there is any kind of snow/salt/sand on the road.

i'm just gonna have to be careful, no more hard launches for me. I sure hope i can accelerate decently in 5th though, what do you think? if not that would suck for the cruise control drive back.

Stay out of boost and you will be fine. A good way to adjust for colder weather if you have been tuned in hotter weather is to get an adjustable FPR and bump the psi up a bit to add some fuel across the board. I would recommend running a wideband to verify as well.

I have never heard of a Honda clutch just "going" My friend's B18 clutch slipped really bad for like a month, and then he replaced it, it's not going to like blow up, you'll be fine. Just don't slam gears like usual.

I've shattered plenty of honda clutches, not since my b swap, but my stock d16 clutch broke a few times on me, usually the springs break and rattle around in there.

When i put on my greddy kit, at 9 psi the clutch would slip when i hit vtec.

I'd be fine until vtec hits then the needle would slam to 8k, lol.

I love my new clutch
