JE vs Arias
Im somewhat familiar with both companies, and am in the market for some low comp. pistons for my b18c. I was going to go with the JE's untill a friend told me they have a tendency to develop hot spots. Just so you know Im aiming for around 18-20psi at the track and 15psi daily. Im going to build this car right the first time and not only do I want to build it to be fast, I also want it to be reliable as possible, not something I have to tear apart every other week. So any info or opinions you guys may have will be very helpful, thanks.

Re: JE vs Arias (Nonstop)
I've heard great things about both companies' pistons.
You probably can go wrong with either company. Go with whatever company you can get a better price.

I'd like to know exactly what makes piston A more expensive than piston B...and why one is better than the other.
You see great things with all of these pistons, you see bad things with all of these pistons...how does one REALLY make a decision on pistons? And what makes the setup the best it can be...is it the builder or is it the components?

Nobody ever really talks about that stuff though when they recommend pistons...not that I have seen anyhow.
I will be in the market for new pistons in the spring so I'm starting to look/research now which is why I ask.

We use Arias in all the cars we build. we have no problems.
I think the comparison you are talking about was done by Import builders. The Arias was at the top of the list. I talked to the company that did the test and the weisco piston numbers where fudged to make them look better. The Arias where actually the better pistons. But IB sells weisco so they had to be a better piston or they would not be able to sell what they had.

Vtec God. I am a trial user and I cannot send you a private message. I am interested in Arias pistons low compression for B16A. I sent you an e-mail. Thanks.

The best way to pick pistons is to run a H-series motor. By the time you pick the bore and compression you want, you only have one or two choices anyway
The importbuilders piston test may be 100% unbiased, but I have a hard time believing info like that when there is a business involved. You know what I mean? I personally took that test with a huge grain of salt.

Wiseco makes the best pistons, HANDS DOWN. Every show we go to, huge people in the sport compact business tell us there's no doubt are pistons are the best! Btw, I work for Wiseco.

Re: (earl)
I ran both JE and Arias. Its just personal preference. So people make stuff work and some people just dont. No big deal. I now use CP and have ran the fastest time so far. oh and by the way i got it from Tom at Camp1320.com

With technology these days you can't go wrong with either piston. I prefer supertech because they are lighter and have a nitrate coating, but we all know detonation will kill any piston. Pretty much any aftermarket piston can handle the hp that people here throw at it if tuning is proper.
