Default Jackson Racing SC Lean Problems

I picked up a JR SC about a month after buying my 2000 GSR new. Went in well and ran great...until I melted the tips off a set of platinum plugs after 10k miles. A little lean? I think so. Anyways, I'be raised the fuel pressure and am now at 25k and it's fouling #3. The enging has been pulled and is sitting at Comptech as I write this. I am just wondering if anyone else has had problems with JR SC's around this time frame. If this was a widespread problem....I don't think I should be paying for it. It's not my fault JR didn't state in the instructions what the Fuel PSI should be. It also irks me that my warranty was only 10k, but supposedly, it's now 100k. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

2000 GSR
JR Intake
JR Supercharger
JR Fuel Pump

I have only had my SC on my car for about 15k now......no problems.
I think you are screwed. I believe the warranty only covers the supercharger itself and defects in the kit. Not the car it's going on.... because JR has no control over how its installed or tuned.
This is what they will tell you... if either you or the people who installed it had the knowledge to put it in....then you/they should have had the knowledge to tune it properly.

Hope it works out for you....

I think #3 is still running a little lean b/c the tip on the plug is starting to go like the first set. I'm probably going to throw some bigger injectors in it when I get it back. It might also be the wires are junk. Who knows. I'll keep everyone posted.....Also, Comptech might make great parts and engines, but their customer service sucks. I've been given call back times and haven't received a single call. Let's just say that it's been up there for a month and they still don't have a quote for me.

What other mods do you have on yours? How about your pressure, what are you running that at?

Stepper pulley, ITR exhaust cam, ITR springs and lost motion device, crower retainers, skunk2 gears, Kami header, 3" thermal exhaust, rc310's, cartech FMU, 255gph fuel pump, homemade cai, j & s safeguard, msd stuff......

The first thing I did when I got the SC kit was ditch the JR fuel enrichment and FMU. Got the RC injectors, cartech FMU and J & S safeguard. My idle pressure is right about 28-30. I had to lower the pressure via "Too's method(endyn)" by drilling a small hole in the pressure regulator so it would idle with out fouling the plugs and pass smog. My ramp up rate on the cartech is about 85%......this took some time to dial in. With it maxed out the car stumbled alittle going into boost. with it around 50% ramp up it still had alittle tip in detonation. So I kept backing it off until the car stopped stumbling. My WOT fuel pressure is still into the 90's . More than likely I would have destroyed the motor during all this tuning if it wasn't for the J & S.......that thing is a life saver

I need a hondata!!!!

Dustin:

How tight did they run the clearance on that setup?

They didn't even bore the sleeves to proper spec, they were way undersized...

Clearance was about .0005" to .001" depending on where you took the measurement. Piston barely fit in the bore! haha! but understand these are arias pistons so they expand more than stock when heated.... I think arias recommends .003" to .005"

note that only this ONE piston had this tight of clearance the rest were OK

Nice.

Maybe they were trying to give you the supafly deal with clearances so tight that rings weren't even needed.
