Default Jackson People

My friend has a 94 Gsr and yesterday had a Jackson Charger installed. Hes running 6psi and all the normal basics. When the car gets warm and he gets on it, at 5000rpm or so it will throw a check engine light. The code is for the knock sensor. Anyone have this problem, Heard of this problem, or know any advice for me so i can help him out? TIA

Have ya'll tried pulling the code to see what it is? That would be the easiest way of seeing what is wrong. My guess would be the MAP bypass relay (I think that's what it's called or something along those lines) is not hooked up correctly. So when the ECU sees boost, it's going to through a code.

They got the code and called me at work and told me it was throwing a code for the knock sensor. Not sure of the code but know there were 2 Honda-Mechanics working on it.

the map sensor does not see boost on a GSR.

i would check the wiring for the knock sensor first. did they retard the timing? are you running any sort of BTM?

Do you hear a can of marbles under hood when you get the check engine light?

youre thinking of the IAT relay.

there is a mod for the JRSC that relocates the MAP sensor to see true intake manifold pressure, and then u need an electronic limiter to prevent a CEL. but its worth it - improves street drivability to the point where its a necessity.

Its my friends car. Just trying to help him out.

I havent rode in it or seen it or anything. He called me and those are the symptoms he told me about. Ill try to get more outta him but hes a newbie and really doesnt know much. I figured it was timing but they said timing was set right. Anyone seen these kinda problems. It would suck if that were detonation.

Haven't run into that problem but the wiring harness runs between the back of the block and the supercharger and it's a pretty tight fit. A wire may have gotten pinched. If that's the case you're going to have to rip out the blower and make sure the harness is in a good place.

I have the same problem the first time JRSC is installed, the problem is that when the JRSC is installed is very very easy to break the Knock sensor or detach the conector (i break the sensor), if this happen, you need to change the knock sensor and reset the ecu and all work fine

The other possible reason for the knock error, is that you are running in a lean condition and have lots of knock, and the ecu think that the sensor is bad, and can't retard more the timing.

The ecu error code for the Knock sensor is 23.

I think this can help you.

I just figured blake or joe did it, they seem to be the "honda-tech's" up in greenville. i agree with dariusz, replace the knock sensor. blake or joe should be able to get one for a discount for your buddy, but first i would recommend borrowing someone's to see if that solves the problem. who's gsr is this going on? you guys going up to greer anytime soon?
