Second was another 24ft box with a 6.4 liter ford/international diesel bulked up for commercial use, had a big Borg Warner S400V, again lots of torque, super slow

The truck I'm driving this week is a little 16ft GMC/Isuzu NPR with a 5.2 liter 4 cylinder with a gt25 on it..., its fast, fast enough that I've jumped people off of lights that have tried to get in front of me,

It makes 195hp/495ft lb through a close ratio automatic 6spd and weighs about as much unloaded as my 1 ton truck does, in first and second it will push you into the seat (iknorite lol) and one day I had a guy in a S4 try to get me off a light, I brake boosted at the light and probably jumped him 1-2 cars...

This makes me want to get my small turbo ls/vtec build done so bad.

So screw your "I don't make full boost to 6500 and only have 2000rpm of use able power" cars :p
If you feel that way then get a late 80s turbo caravan, lots of torque, little hp

Once again, it's another "RPM vs spool" debate, when clearly spooling early does not mean fast acceleration off the line.

If off-the-line acceleration is important, it is quite easy to build a 500+ WHP setup that reflects on an aggressive N/A build. It does not require much power to kick the tires loose on a 4.400 FD Honda right off the line, and thats all the power it needs to jump off the line quickly. Too short of a gear? Then make sure the car revs nicely to 9500+ RPM so that there is a purpose in having 600WHP.

I am sure many folks here are fully aware of a strong N/A Honda powerband that gets a kick of 150-160 lbft of torque right off the line. Anything more is pointless, due to the short ratio 1st gear we usually run.

In a 2450lb Integra, although I have over 600WHP, my engine creates great power out of boost. I can easily take most 135i / 335i's off the line, or at least stay side by side with ones that are full bolt-on. I consider the N54's to be a good measure of current standards in terms of clean off the line "torquey" cars to be used as comparison.

Torquey feeling and acceleration are completely different things. My Evo 9 feels torquey, but it it never jumps off the line if I roll off in 1st gear and hammered it. My Integra jumps off the line better due to way better response.

I'm just relating it that way since most of the people asking are current owners of large turbo Hondas, quick spool doesn't always equal power, proper turbo sizing for the intended motor and power goal/purpose is what determines the bulk of the power band.

Its just easier to tell someone with a b16 using a 6262 for say 450hp that they can run a much smaller turbo, have better response and have a much broader, beefier power band.

Not bad, what turbo setup?
I wish that graph was plotted using rpm

However lightningteg had an awesome setup. Made 300ft/lbs by 3500 and carries almost to redline, stock ls and a gt28r at 20psi tapering to 17-18 at redline

me and you both, dyno wouldn't pick up the ignition signal. but if you know the math, the pulls were in 4th gear on an LS trans with 23" tall tires.

stock long block
Brms ramhorn
Godspeed turbo
Tial 38(6 and 8 psi)
3" bumper exit
2" backdoor hot side
2.25" cold side
Tial 50

chrome tune on 93

only reason I'm using the gsp turbo is because it was free lol. all I got around to measuring was the turbine exducer(57mm), has a .63 5-bolt housing and a B cover.

LOL know what you mean. My cobra with it's roots blower (twin screw on it now) makes instant torque at any RPMs. Full boost right from idle! My Honda spools relatively early, compare to some, at 4k rpms but doesn't really wake up till closer to 5k when vtec kicks in. Very different driving experiences. I rather enjoy the contrast

my friends international dump truck with L10 engine makes like 900 ftlbs somewhere around 1500 rpm. time to swap that into a ek y0!

i really like responsive setups and i dont think anyone can deny they are more fun than a car that peaks out late in the rpm range. more area under the curve/ average hp is the bomb.

years ago i ran a b18b with a 57 trim using the .48 exhaust. i might have had it up around 12-13 psi. it made full boost between 2800-4000rpm depending on gear and load. was fun as hell.

sometimes though i feel you can go too small. i tuned a few cars over the years that had their full boost in the 2500 range. it sucked imo every time you would go up a hill you'd be pushing 5-6 psi sucking up fuel. my old vitara was notorious for this.

wantboost - stop typing and get this setup done lol!

I've got one as well that I'm putting a 20g cold side on it

I'm gonna try the 2871 I'm building first and then compare it to the 20g. I think the 20g will have slightly better mid and topend due to the twin scroll turbine and the turbine wheel.

I don't want super early power, as that can cause even more traction issues compared to a larger turbo setup, if I can make peak torque somewhere in the 3500-4000 range I'll be super happy

I wish I could put the 5.2 in the box truck in a car lol, I know someone that put a 4bt in an s13 and it fit.
