Default Internal wastegate questions

I have a td05 16g mitsubishi turbo...however the stock wastegate is 10psi....can i use a saab t3 wastegate on my td05....i was recently told that i can swap the wastegates with no problem..any input or experience with this? I want 6lbs of boost..which is what the saab turbo wastegate is set at.

There is no problem with switching out dashpots (actuators). The only thing is to modify the bracket if need be and your good to go. I put a Ford Thunderbird dashpot on my IHI turbo because the stock was a 6psi spring and the ford is a 10psi spring.

It will work.

Oh crap. I just saw that you tried it and it didn't work. What didn't work about it? It has to be the mounting bracket. If that's it why don't you just modify it?

yeah..i would have to modify the mounting bracket..but..even if i did get it mounted..the shaft was too short...it couldn't reach the wastegate lever....

You can cut the actuator arm, and thread it to use a sleeve. Should be fairly easy to make your own adjustible arm. Ive made one or two.

Also, you can try making a spacer to put under the actuator mount. Basically move the actuator closer to the flapper. Might be hard to understand what im trying to say..

hmm...i heard it could be very risky when trying to tamper with actuators...im just going to buy a 7psi actuator.....cheapturbo.com says they have them for td05 turbos...

you bought a 7psi actuator from them too? and if so..did you have any luck selling your 10psi actuator that came stock on the td turbos?

yup. and naw my turbo didn't even come with a stock actuator(bought it used)...the guy wanted $25 extra for the stock actuator so I passed, didn't need it anyways. not sure who you could sell it to, try over on DSM Trader, maybe someone might want it, if their stocker is leaking
