intermittent compression loss?!?!
so i got a b16 turbo setup from a buddy a couple weeks back that had been sitting for several months. it ran perfect when he pulled it out. then i got it in my car and it has compression sometimes and then sometimes its got nothing. could it be the rings seizing up from sitting? valve seals? lemme know if you've ever heard of or experienced this problem. thanks
i had the same prob with an ls but i never got comp out of it still waiting to tear it apart, i'm guessing it's the rings though when they sit you can build moisture in which builds rust which can sezie the rings and tear them up from all the rust on the walls
yeah. i'm gonna pour a couple drops of oil in through the spark plug holes and see if that frees them up a bit. i really can't see it as a hard failure because it had compression and then didnt. but we'll see. i'll post later on after i try it.
haha...
Intermintant compression loss is more likely due to valve adjustment issues or carbon holding the valves open, rings rusting from moisture is just retarded...

Too tight of a valve adjustment gets my vote. Loose enough so that there is compression cold but when it gets really warm valve(s) can stay open.

havent had a problem with the compression since the tune... :/ still kinda worried but we'll see. its a stock sleeve b16, eagle rods, cp 9 to 1 pistons, gsr cams, custon mani and downpipe, 60-1 turbo, edelbrock intake mani, 750's, 3 bar.
