Default intercooler sprayer CO2/NO2 anyone using one?

I am looking at the CRYO2 (CO2 based) and the NX (NO2 based) intercooler sprayer kits. is anyone on this board using one, and what have your results been?? are they worth it? they are not too expensive (around $300-$400) and especially durning those hot summer nights at the track seem like it could really cool down the intake charge. what do you guys think??

I recently saw the N-cooler in action on a dyno this weekend. Car was a eagle talon with a 16g upgrade. Not sure if it was the big or normal one. Anyways at 16psi, he gained 18hp to the wheels. Not bad I guess. Just thought i throw that at your guys

thanks for the feedback guys, this helps... I would like to go with the CO2 system cause it is cheaper, but don't want to risk sucking CO2 into my motor,

I am using a DRAG manifold, and the intake is pretty much right behind my passenger side headlight, seems far enough away from my intercooler, but I guess I wont know for sure til I try it.

can you actually fill up a CO2 tank with N2O and vise versa, or do you need different tanks for each??

from what I understand it's much more efficient to spray the nitrous into the intake piping then to spray the intercooler with it. lol

Sounds kinda stupid to me, cool of the charge air going thru the intercooler, why do that, just spray it into the charge pipe and get the extra kick from the nitrous as well as the same cooling effects. And if it's for a mild turbo street car, im sure the money could be better spent on a bigger turbo that would make more power.

Wasting nitrous on your intercooler is dumb. I'll agree, that after some hard runs in the city pushing a lot of boost with not a lot of speed, your intercooler can get very heat soaked, and I can see it working then. Although i've found alky/water injection to work much better at cooling the intake charge temp

Yes water injection is much cheaper too...I believe you can set one up for 200ish.
And if you are going to spend 350 or so on an Nitrous cooling kit why not just spend the extra money and get 50 or 100hp? A much better deal IMHO

well... I actually want to run a CO2 setup, I was talking it over with my tuner last night, and the intercooler is far enough away from the intake that it shouldn't be a problem, not only is CO2 dirt cheap ($1 a pound) but I live right next to a supply buisiness, they sell almost every gas you can buy, as well as welders/welding supplies. I ask him about Nitrous, first he went off about how you need a licence (wich I just applied for, NJ ) I told him I will have it. the he goes... ****!! don't buy that crap from the speed shop... that **** is full of sulpher, I got %100 pure medical grade, and CO2 he said he would give it to me for free for a year if I buy the tank from him,

so 5lb tank $86. w/ free refills
the spray bar is $50.
now I just gotta price out the switches and solenoid...
anyone got a good sorce for the solenoid, line, and switches??

gonna get this going for less than $250. or at least I am going to try

the nitrous has sulfer for a reason becuase some dumb *** kids dont try to huff it .
with sulfer in it , thats a bit of a deterence to doing that . just my o.2
i might try this kit and see howit works . 3/10 of a sec for 300 or so , is well worth it to me

yea, I know thats why they put sulfer in it, but does it have any effect on performance??

like I said I am going to run with CO2 its free for a year, and cheap after that, just curious about the N20 for use maybe in the future, after I build up a solid bottom end... and I could always fill up a couple ballons

well the intercooler spray is for applications where using nitrous (into the engine) is not "safe".. for example im running a turbo with stock interals so if i were to add say a 50 shot to that my motor would not last. yes you will get better gains by running straight nitrous but in my case i cant or atleast not until i build the motor. so cooling the intake charge works for me and it only cost me 250 so im not going to complain.

those are numbers while standing still on a dyno, it would make a much bigger difference while movie at 60+ mph.

I dont know if you care or not, but I know in the NHRA rule book you can only have air or water cooled intercoolers. I was thinking of doing nitrous until I read that, cus I am mostly interested in track performance. just my .02
