Default Intercooler End tanks design...

Does the endtank design makes a difference, I mean if a square design flows less than ones with a slanted side or a rounded side like the HKS ?

I am comparing between the drag IC end tanks and the new rev-hard end tanks and I was informed by a very intelligent source that the design with a lil slanted at the top of the end tanks help flows quite a bit than the perfect square design, due the flow direction of air

I am trying to make endtanks for my IC....so any thoughts will help...

logic would assume that if you "funneled" the air into the exit side then it
would flow better.

true...but do you think it will help on the inatke side too...

faster flow to the IC form the compressor

i think so. having the volume change slowly probably helps

exactly, instead of having a huge rush of air at one time, I guess velocity stack they use on regular NA intake has something to do with it

Sqaured endtanks aslo cause more turbulance. The "slanted" designs help direct the air smoothly in and out of the core.

hehehe, to add to the discussion a "baffled" in-tank is the best design. If you check out MB, CB states that the baffles will evenly distribute the air across the entire height of the IC.

EDIT: so the most ideal setup would be a baffled in-cap and a "funnel" shaped out-cap.

look in pg 60 of your copy of Max Boost.

since your going to make your own end tanks- some people but baffels inside the tanks to help direct air and to lessen turbulance.
i read in "Maximum Boost" end tanks that funnel the air flow better than square tanks.

Edit: Dangit he beat me to it....well like he said

once again, Maximum Boost comes to the rescue...

P.S. i read the same thing...

a bit OT, but does everyone have MB in paperback or is it also available hardback?

I was almost certain you had it, but I was wondering why you were asking. although there is no mention of it in MB, I believe an unbaffled incap would just shoot air straight to the exit. and a square end-cap will have a lot of turbulence from the air hitting a "wall" so to speak.
