Default Intercooler

Hey guys

im sitting in a sort of dilema here

my setup at the moment
84mm b16
forged pistons and eagle rods
acl bearing
turbonetics t3 t04e 57trim .48
stock head
63mm boost pipes from the cooler to the intake
from the turbo to the cooler its 50mm
custom built equal runner maifold
400x200x50 universal cooler

power is 182wkw and 256nm (stingiest dyno around)

now i want to turn up the boost and from what i seen most if not all the honda tech guys run big coolers 600x300x76

now some of the local guys here say that would be overkill for what i have.
but i had a buddy with a gsr where he ran a big cooler and made basically 30wkw more then other b18c's with the same setups.same turbo and boost

so will my current 400x200x50 cooler surfice or would i need to change it to 600x300x76? im running 0.8 bar and want to push it to 1.1 to 1.2 bar

Measure in and out temperatures of the intercooler and this will let you know if it's efficient enough or not. (Under boost obviously.)

look for fin design and core design on cooler as well if you do decide to upgrade.

yea the construction of the intercooler core matters as well. from the sound of it you're simply running a typical ebay intercooler... they are ehhh. I mean they'll work but the arent the best... and they have abnormally high pressure drop. Like 2 psi across the intercooler at 20psi inlet pressure, whereas a well designed intercooler is between .5-1.o psi drop across the intercooler
