intake manifold suggestions please!!!
Hey everybody. My friend has been looking into getting his hands on an intake manifold, and both of us have heard little about the ones that are out (that we know of): HP, STR, skunk2, JG Edelbrock,.... let me give a lil info about his car: 1998 GSR, Fmax turbo kit, 8 or 12 psi, Tanabe racing medallion catback, MSD 6AL with timing retard inside, STR fuel rail....and a bunch of other bolt on BS....
Questions:
1) Intake manifold suggestions based on hear-say or personal use?
2) Intake manifold use for his car (show piece or active peice)?
Thanks, Tom

id get the JG/Edelbrock Victor X cause it makes more power than either the Skunk 2 or ITR and it has a mounting pad for the stock Idle Control Motor..which the STR,VENOM,HP and Matrix Dont...these manifolds are better suited for a stand alone ECU like a SPEEDPRO or Accel Dfi...if you went stand alone..id get the STR.

if ur gonna be above 9k then it would be a good investment for the x, but that thing hasn't been publicly tested yet.
and for ur friends application, the skunk2 manifold polished would be nice
gsr dual runners aren't that good when its modded alot. Madd poWeR u bE geTin with it fo shure...
and since he wants show polish always looks nice...especially if it matches your polished wastegate

Skunk2 is perfect for mild to moderate street f/i setups. onefastb18c made 617 to the wheels still using an unmolested Skunk2 on a GSR head. So it flows plenty I think

didnt Jojo Callos make like 20 or 40 more hp with the victor X or pick up some top speed with it. Anyone else using this, any thoughts?

The JG manifolds are retailing for around $420 or so I believe. I have one on the way, I wonder what will make more hp and tq, my HP Racing sheet metal or the JG.

Directly from JG. I believe it is the 4 injector version. When I spoke to Jaiver he said he has gotten the last 45 pieces, and that there will not be another run of them until sometime in Feb.

What motors did they produce them for. Let me guess. No H22a.
I'd definitely be interested in an H22a app.

Ok spoke to Javier again, all of the manifolds come with injector bosses on the bottom on the manifold (see pic below). You have to it drilled out yourself. Javier also said they picked up 20hp at 12lbs. over the STR manifold. JG only has like 40 or so left, and they will be selling them for $420, I will be selling them $395+shipping. I believe currently they are only making them for the B18C.

Re: intake manifold suggestions please!!! (Turbo EG6)
ok, what about the fuel rail?
is there mounting holes for that?
i see what you're talking about the boses..
you just have to drill the pass through hole, then drill a counter bore for the grommet, etc...
from the pic, i'm just worried about how the fuel rail would be mounted...
so, they are not selling an 8 injector manifold already drilled and with a fuel rail?
i thought i saw one from sema

looking from the pic again..
there doesn't seem to be enough material for the injectors...
do you have to weld on an injector boss?
lemme see if i can find a pic of the manifold that i'm talking about.

Yes you can, let me know if you want one for sure, so I can have him add me another one to my order. I believe they sell the rail seperatly. I will check on that, probably won't be till monday when I find out. They were really busy today, and I think they are closed Thursday and Friday.

Re: intake manifold suggestions please!!! (TurboT)
its amazing how many times i hear from shops that the JG manifold is super bomb, and that the STR sucks.. and for each one of those times i hear the STR manifold is super bomb and the JG sucks. does anybody have true dyno plots from both of these manifolds on the same motor?
